“ | Mages nowadays are always chatting and chanting... sometimes you just have to shut up and get your hands bloody. | ” |
The Battle Mage is a Mage who prefers the full-contact satisfaction of combat and attacks with close-range weapons and spells. However, being of diminutive stature, her magical powers manifest as Chasers, magical spheres infused with various elemental properties that serve as a powerful buffer between her and the relentless barrage of enemy attacks. The Battle Mage is fast, possesses superhuman fighting skills and is the only Mage able to master weaponry. At level 48, the Battle Mage awakens as the Bellatrix.
Her second-class feature is a set of gloves.

Basics Of Battle Mages
- Main article: Strategies
Standard Attacks
When a mage becomes a Battle Mage, she gains more aptitude for melee combat. Thus she adopts an entirely different string of attacks based on various skills.
- The first attack resembles Dragon Fang and has the ability to deal a significantly greater amount of damage than an average attack.
- The second attack follows the Palm Blast motion and shoots the mage sprite forward.
- The third and final attack in the sequence is the same motion as Full Swing. This has a very large range and easily hits multiple enemies.
Holding the direction opposite the sprites front will keep her stationary through out the normal string of attacks. Holding the direction which the character is facing will greatly increase the amount of ground covered.
Even though the motions are changed to skill like motions, it is NOT the skill itself.
Miscellaneous Changes
Because of the drastic change in play style from a basic Mage (or other subclass) to a Battle Mage, multiple other alterations have occurred.
- Jump power is lowered so you will not jump as high. However, jump speed is increased.
- When you miss with a dash attack, you will no longer fall down.
- Battle Mages have more defense compared to other mage jobs because of their Leather Armor Mastery and the ability to obtain over level 5 Mana Shield without equipment. This is good for defense in PVP, it makes leather armor feel like heavy armor.
- Although specialized in melee combat, Chasers provide the magic attack to back physical attack up, hence the name "Battle Mage"
- Normal attack with chasers will make very easy combos
- Larger chasers do higher damage and have a larger splash radius. Combos will make chasers grow.
- Battle Mages will have to be aware of the playstyle difference between partying and soloing. For instance, gathering monsters may not be the right goal in every party situation.
Using Chasers
The glowing orbs that follow a Battle Mage are very powerful and immensely useful tools, however their use can be a bit confusing and daunting to newcomers to the class. Chasers are normally used for one of 3 things:
- Damage
- Continuing Combos
- Buffs/Debuffs
The most basic use of a Chaser is obviously damage. They are little exploding orbs of magic, so why not use them as such? Second main use is Continuation of combos. Appropriate timing can cause combos to literally last forever. A more obscure use for them is the buffs they give. Each element increases a stat on the battle mage and can really give an edge in a fight.
The goal of any Battle Mage should be to use chasers to the greatest proficiency they can. The most difficult use to master is continuing combos indefinitely as it requires accurate timing where as the other 2 categories are not reliant on acute windows of time.
Trivia
- Battle Mages' first attack in the normal sequence can deal 8 to 10 times its regular damage at a very low chance. Likely an intended feature, it is speculated to be an homage to the Wizard from D&D.
