Order of Priests

The Order of Priests or the Priest Order (Kor: 프리스트 교단), also known as the Church of Lemidios, is group of priests and priestesses that was originally established to protect the world from the being known as Ozma of Chaos and his army of Imposters. In the Black Crusade, the Order successfully overcame and sealed Ozma away in a Dimensional Rift. However, Ozma's presence and his Curse of Blood lingered even after his defeat, forming the Black Order. With the sudden appearances of Hell Monsters, Imposters, and Dimensional Rifts appearing in Arad; signs show that Ozma's return is soon and inevitable. The Order must prepare and defend Arad should another confrontation arise.

History

A description of the Black Crusade.

The Black Crusades

In the Arad Year 157, the newly resurrected Ozma of Chaos enacts his revenge on the Pelos Empire and on humanity by spreading his Curse of Blood turning humans into Imposters creating mistrust and witch hunts within the populace; descending the continent of Arad into chaos. During this time, the Priests are the only individuals able to discern humans from Imposters, being able to sense their evil and malicious intent.

Around the Arad Year 253, the Priest Order wages war against Ozma's forces. Through the leadership of Michael of the Holy Eye, the Holy Five lead the Priest Order to victory against Ozma and his Imposter army in Arad Year 347, sealing him and most of his army away in an alternate dimension during the Black Crusade. In response to the still lingering Imposter threat, the Priest Order vows to continue to hunt down the remains of Ozma's army. Despite their victory, there was still the possibility of Ozma returning and re-enacting his vengeance. In response, unknown to the rest of the Order, one of the Holy Five, Michael, vanishes.

The Second Black Crusade

800 years later, the event known as the Metastasis occurs, causing dimensional rifts to appear across the world. The seal restraining Ozma begins to weaken as he uses these rifts to send monsters from his dimension into Arad to once again descend the world into chaos. The Priest Order aware of this situation, learns of Ozma's affiliation as an Apostle and the danger he poses to Arad from the Fortuneteller Iris. With the looming threat of Ozma's return, the Order hires Adventurers to go through the Interdimensional Rift and defeat Ozma once and for all during the Black Order Resurgence. However, before the Adventurers could reach Ozma, Michael appears to block their path warning them that Ozma should not be killed, but the Adventurers do not heed his words.

Upon receiving news that Michael is protecting Ozma from the Adventurers and that he is also an Apostle from Iris, the Order of Priests concludes that his actions are for the purpose of protecting a fellow dangerous Apostle. Reluctantly, the Order brands Michael a traitor as well as a potential threat to Arad and orders his death. This led to a schism within the Order between Lemidia Basilica and Lemidia Capella.

The War of the Saints

The War of the Saints was the internal conflict within the Order over the overall choice to brand Michael a traitor or not with his choice to save Ozma, the result was Michael's death and the reshuffling of the Order.

Unbeknownst to the Order, its declarations for the deaths of both Ozma and Michael were all part of Hilder's plan of New Genesis and will bring the world of Arad one step closer to its end.

Mirror Arad

The Great Metastasis causes the Principality of Bel Myre to be destroyed along with the Lemidia Basilica in Hendon Myre. The Order of the Priests headquarters are moved to the Remidia Kathedra in Underfoot.

  • Crusader Division - A Female Priest division founded by Oberith Rosenbach. It consists of girls who were saved from cult groups by Lemidia Basilica and have found their calling as Crusaders. A part consists of the Crusaders' Choir.
  • Saint Beonarr's Monastery: A monastery built in honor of the great hero, Wolfgand Beonarr. Most of the members are Monks, dedicated to physical training and passing down the Holy Fist technique. A majority follows Wolfgand's belief of showing no mercy to Imposters. Their power in combat is matched only by their piety in following their god, and they fight under the command of Teida Beonarr.
  • Suju Exorcists - A division that epresents the Suju Parish and was founded by Sinya of the Holy Five. Its motto is "Destroy things that are evil." it is A group created by like-minded people among the priests who train in the myriad temples of Suju.
  • Inquisition - A radical division belonging to Lemidia Capella, led by fanatics.
  • Forge of Light - A neutral faction that serves as a literal forge, creating equipment imbued with divine power for the Order. It fulfills the will of the god by assisting the other parishes in purifying or exterminating those who would disturb the world. It operates under the belief that "being faithful to what we can do now is the will of God and the right answer, and that what we say is right or wrong is not the right answer; it is for God to judge."

The Holy Five

  • Michael of the Holy Eye — One of the Holy Five. A Saint known for establishing the Priest martial arts as well as the founder of the Order of the Holy Eye and the Lemidia Basilica in Bel Myre. He created the Holy Fist technique. Despite his age, he has the stature of a young man and his piercing blue eyes are able to see the true intentions of his opponents. Through his leadership, the Priests overcome the Imposters and win the Black Crusade, but then suddenly he disappears.
  • Shapiro Gracia — One of the Holy Five. A Paladin known for his defensive capabilities, creating shields against enemy Imposters as well as repelling and defeating Astaros.
  • Sinya — One of the Holy Five. An Exorcist known for establishing a fighting style of using Suju magic amulets and his battle axe to repel Imposters.
  • Milan Rosenbach — One of the Holy Five. A Crusader known for his healing and protective abilities. He had a relation to Lamiere Redmayne.
  • Wolfgand Beonarr — One of the Holy Five. A Monk known for his incredible stone shattering grip strength and "Phantom Wind" speed. He never slacked on his training.

The Four Archpriests

  • Grandis Gracia — A descendant of Shapiro Gracia. A Priestess who was sent to Bel Myre to guide new Priests in the Order. She worries constantly about the whereabouts of her brother Nilvas, the former Archpriest Paladin.
  • Shinjang — A descendant of Sinya. An Archpriest Exorcist stationed in Suju that is adept in detecting Imposters.
  • Teida Beonarr — A descendant of Wolfgand Beonarr. He was a former Archpriest Monk. With the War of the Saints, he transfers to Lemidia Capella for his beliefs.
  • Oberith Rosenbach — A descendant of Milan Rosenbach and is Archbishop Magar's Granddaughter. The Fourth Priestess, she created a Female Crusader army, the Crusader Division, of priestesses rescued from the Black Order.

  • Oblivious Aslan — An Exorcist and former acquaintance to Niu who despises magic and only fought with physical skills. He became corrupted by the Black Nightmare and was modified into one of Luke's followers.
  • Nilvas Gracia — A descendant of Shapiro Gracia and older brother to Grandis. Originally an Archpriest Paladin, he became the first Avenger after being cursed by Astaros.
  • Kirsch of Deception — A fallen Monk who once dedicated his life to tracking down Imposters chose to become one of his own accord upon joining the Grim Seekers.
  • Midnight's Darkness — A Exorcist who had grown disillusioned in his faith in God and became an Imposter after signing a contract with the Four Demonic Beasts.
  • Devastar the Pureblood — A Paladin that left the Order because of their atrocities, he would receive a revelation from Ozma with the aid of a Pureblood, finding his new calling.

  • Lamiere Redmayne — A Inquisitor known as the "The Infernal Messenger", who fought alongside the Holy Five that established the torch-style of combat along with wielding a Battle Axe to set Imposters ablaze with sacred flames.
  • Bareford Beonarr - A Monk in his twenties who fought alongside his thirty-two year old brother Wolfgang. Unlike the calm and quiet Wolfgang, he had a boisterous personality. He was killed by Despairing Tiamat during the first Black Crusade.
