The Kartel is one of the antagonistic forces within Dungeon Fighter Online. It's base of operations is the Lawless District in Empyrean.

History

Edon's Brotherhood

Originally, the Kartel was founded as a group of gunslingers known as the Edon's Brotherhood by the individuals Don Enzo Sipo and Sandstorm Varracht in Arad Year 962. Unlike many of the other outlaw gangs in the Lawless District which promoted violence and oppression, it promoted the ideals of freedom and romance. Enzo Sipo's passion and reputation attracted many individuals, including the mercenary group called "The Company" led by Fabrique O'Connell.

"While other gangs and organizations advocated great causes, Edon's Brotherhood carried the banner for romance. It was a smart strategy. It helped them evade persecution by the Wespeace Army that regarded Edon's Brotherhood as a group of posers. Outlaws, tired of the great causes of other organizations, sought refuge in Edon's Brotherhood because it let them be the carefree outlaws they were. Also, gangs that were too weak to survive the competition wanted to ally with Edon's Brotherhood. Edon's Brotherhood continued to grow, and by the time other organizations realized the threat that it posed, it was too late."

However, due to a sudden change to in its leader's worldviews, the group grew into a massive organization. Along with the admission of three newer members, a mysterious hooded individual, the Seven Shards scientist Gizel Logan and the Guerrilla force leader Trooper Captain Rangelus, its values changed to that of power and destruction. Due to opposing views, two of the group's most prominent members, Varracht and O'Connell left the organzation. With Varracht's departure in Arad Year 974, it marked the beginning of the Kartel.
