Extensions
Let me know if there are any extensions in particular that need upgrading. I don't really have time right now to do a manual comparison. Saiyr (talk) 19:37, 28 May 2014 (PDT)
- Right now, DFO needs ParserFunctions to be updated. It will allow us to display Korean times and when a user hovers over it, a dropdown box will display Pacific, Australia, etc times. Thanks!--Dfoplayer (talk) 22:27, 28 May 2014 (PDT)
Being unable to link...because I'm still considered a new user
Pretty much that. anyways the direct link to what's to come of Alpha is this: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=502237356570381&set=a.491544004306383.1073741828.477239829070134&type=1&theater Mikaya (talk) 10:51, 30 May 2014 (PDT)
- Since there has yet to be bots, I disabled the filter for now. The filter checks the user age and edit count. Odd.--Dfoplayer (talk) 12:04, 30 May 2014 (PDT)
RE: Cancel Deletions
Replying here to make sure you get the message. Neople has already confirmed it will be as close to KDNF as possible. There is no chance that the "Cancel:" skill pages will ever be used again. I am going to remove the links to these pages right away. We will need to eventually delete the cancel images too, but that might be more trouble than it's worth right now unless there's some sysop magic I'm not aware of. LuminantAegis (talk) 21:42, 14 January 2015 (PST)
- We would need another extension to mass delete. I'll ask someone who has server access. --Dfoplayer (talk) 21:49, 14 January 2015 (PST)
- Appreciated. All links to Cancel skills should be gone now. LuminantAegis (talk) 22:52, 14 January 2015 (PST)
Re: Images
Some of the old image assets are actually recycled in the game now which is why I didn't delete them. For example, Isadora.png puts up her Boss Sprite which is still used in the game which is why I uploaded her NPC portrait as Isadora2.png. I'll keep that in mind for non-recycled assets though and I'll try naming my file uploads something else so it doesn't throw other people off. Save 4 Less ((talk)) 1:22, 1/28/2015 (EST)
- Yea, I just realized that you have mirror Arad NPCs. Still, what about updating the maps? Are the old ones also used in some parts of the game?--Dfoplayer (talk) 10:28, 28 January 2015 (PST)
boop
Saiyr retired, I'm doing the sysadmining now. I'm not super comfortable handing out ssh access since more than dfo-world is on this box but just let me know what you need and I'll see if we can make it happen. Kadalyn (talk) 21:19, 29 January 2015 (PST)
- I see. For now, can you run as many Maintenance reports as you can? The important ones are uncategorized, unused, and wanted reports. I'll probably message you in a few months after dfo-global beta is live. --Dfoplayer (talk) 21:25, 29 January 2015 (PST)
- Okay ran the script for you. Seems like saiyr turned off caching for MWW but I'm not sure how, but I'll try to figure it out for you. Kadalyn (talk) 16:25, 30 January 2015 (PST)
- EDIT: Oh I found it. It will generate them when you go to the page now. Kadalyn (talk) 16:28, 30 January 2015 (PST)
- Also most of the admins here seem to have left, do you know the status of them all? I know you and Tessa are active, and Ange is active on MWW at least despite what it looks like here. Seems like Tea might be around sorta, but the rest seem to be gone. Input? Kadalyn (talk) 22:58, 30 January 2015 (PST)
- I am going to have to say I'm probably the only admin active here. I have not seen Tessa lately. I think I was admin since the bot vandalism era, if you check the [block logs]. I had to ask Ixy to give me Check User so i could block range of Ips since it got so bad.--Dfoplayer (talk) 23:08, 30 January 2015 (PST)
- I added an Administrators page. You might want to proofread it and see if you would like to change a couple things.--Dfoplayer (talk) 06:36, 31 January 2015 (PST)
- I wouldn't call myself an admin here just a sysadmin. I really only have admin here so I could bypass the newbie URL restriction. re: wiki lead, that's actually Tessa. She said she'd be more active when the game's actually out but feel free to pester her as needed in the meantime. She is around in general. Since we're talking about staff though, I think I'll go ahead and make a staff section for DFO on the forums, do you have an account already? Kadalyn (talk) 12:19, 31 January 2015 (PST)
- Did the edits myself. Forgot to mention that you'd be selling yourself short calling yourself a moderator. ;3 Also I installed text replace last night, forgot to mention that too. Kadalyn (talk) 12:45, 31 January 2015 (PST)
- No, I do not have an account. I would be glad to be a moderator over there though. I saw the text replace this morning. Thanks a bunch!--Dfoplayer (talk) 15:39, 31 January 2015 (PST)
- EDIT: Created an account on Mabinogi World. Was that the right place since you have a DFO section?--Dfoplayer (talk) 16:05, 31 January 2015 (PST)
Installed delete batch and gadgets extensions for you. Sorry for the delay, had a busy weekend. Kadalyn (talk) 16:40, 22 February 2015 (PST)
- Glad you added them. This should help with mass edits across the wiki. --Dfoplayer (talk) 17:23, 22 February 2015 (PST)
Disputing your Category:EX Skills delete request
A move to Category:TP Skills is enough. The actual functionality has not changed, it is simply "official" wording. LuminantAegis (talk) 12:41, 31 January 2015 (PST)
- The thing is, a category pages needs to be created. Even if i replace all EX with TP, the EX category will be there and will report unused. That's why I had a delete request.--Dfoplayer (talk) 15:39, 31 January 2015 (PST)
Request for Adminship
I am requesting to become an administrator for the wiki. You can review my request and experience here. I understand that this needs to go to a bureaucrat, however I see you online the most so it makes sense to send this your way. LuminantAegis (talk) 21:43, 3 February 2015 (PST)
- Emailed the site owner. --Dfoplayer (talk) 21:49, 3 February 2015 (PST)
- Considering the low traffic I'm not really sure another admin is necessary. You guys can hire whatever mods you want though for sure, as long as you need them, just let me know and I can set up a mod group. I would just copy MWW's though so you'd have to tell me if you wanted any specific permissions for DFO stuff. (PS: I didn't get an email who did you email??) Kadalyn (talk) 22:10, 5 February 2015 (PST)
- I'm pretty sure I emailed you. I have an account over at MWW, and I clicked your name. Unfortunately, I did not CC myself so I can't really prove that I did email you. --Dfoplayer (talk) 22:28, 5 February 2015 (PST)
- Weird, ok, no worries. I'm trying to check here regularly now too. Tested it tho seems like email's working at least. I added my email here too, so you can do it from my userpage here if you want next time. Kadalyn (talk) 00:03, 6 February 2015 (PST)
- I'm not entirely sure if this is in your watchlist but I'll continue it here for context. Aside Replace Text usage, I cannot think of anything special that would be required. I only ask for it due to Neople basically retranslating the game, it will be extremely tedious for me to re-edit: Skill Names (skill changes in items, references in other articles), Item Names ( as part of drop tables, monster drop articles ), 30-40 New Dungeons and all their Monster Names (and possibly old ones) and every reference to them would need to be localized, official retranslations for mechanics: "Physical Attack Power" could be "Physical Attack Strength", "Base Attack Power" could be "Independant Attack Strength" or "Base Attack Strength" or something entirely different, "Vitality" will likely be changed to "Stamina" as per korean DNF, etc., I could easily just keep the talk up with Dfoplayer and have him do my replacements but I don't want to depend on him just to get things done easier! Finally, you do not really state the role of a [Moderator in MWW] so it is a little confusing as to what it entails aside and what tools I would have to help out. I do have contact with and have talked with most of everyone in the current Active Users list ( pretty sure I've even referred them all! ) so in that respect I don't expect any problems that would require admin tools until beta hits and the flood of users come in. (On a side note, the job advancement is now level 15, that keeps throwing me off in the CAPTCHA!) 11:41, 6 February 2015 (PST)
- The description is in the policy instead. They don't have text replace access either. Anyway, admins exist to handle that sort of stuff too, so please feel free to bog him down with all the requests. :3 I suggest a staging page of all the changes that you can just submit or work together on (you add them, he or Tessa text replaces and removes them). Also I'll fix the captcha thanks. Kadalyn (talk) 23:52, 6 February 2015 (PST)
- Sounds like a plan. luminantAegis (talk) 01:32, 7 February 2015 (PST)

Quick Questions
First question: Is this wiki able to run imagemaps using css coding or an extension? Second question (well more of a suggestion) is that the frontpage should have the name of the city and the dungeons inside the city to make it easier for those who aren't fully acquainted with locations in the game to navigate around.
I would change it but I'm pretty sure the frontpage is locked. + Sapphirion + My Talk+
- I don't know what imagemap through css or extension is. If you go to front page, read the source, and you will find out that we are using Template:Newmenu as the front page. Only front page itself is protected. The templates are not, unless vandalism occurs, then I'd have to protect them. --Dfoplayer (talk) 08:46, 15 February 2015 (PST).
- Okay cool then. I'm just gonna assume that imagemap isn't available on the wiki (its just essentially being able to put a/multiple link(s) on an image and have the image redirect you depending on where it is clicked.) I'll go see if it's present on MWW. Thanks for the help.
(And keep going. You can do this!) +Sapphirion + My Talk +
- OHHH. Okay. The closest thing i can think of is [Taillteann and Tara] maps. Of course, they have icons hovering over them, but closest to what you want.--Dfoplayer (talk) 12:29, 15 February 2015 (PST)
- THIS REALLY HELPED OMG THANK YOU! BUt alas, I have another question. Would it be possible to change the name of a page when the full game comes around. I was planning on creating town pages and moving the dungeons on those pages to the actual dungeon area names (EX: Dungeons at Silver Crown to Metastatic Abunova and have Silver Crown be the actual town. Say Neople changes the names from Metastatic Abunova to something else, can I change the page name?) EDIT: Should I just create a redirect when the actual game name comes out (EX: Metastatic Abunova redirects to the new name page.)
- On the top of the page, a down arrow of the right hand side. There is a move button. By default, it automatically creates a redirect page, should you move a page. --Dfoplayer (talk) 16:05, 16 February 2015 (PST)

Help/Advice requested on getting a "contents" thing on Priest's page
As seen here Priest, there's no such thing while the other class page has it and it doesn't seem to be an easily added thing. Would you have an idea how to fix it?
- Add "__TOC__" to page. Stands for Table of Contents. It reads the whole page, but places table wherever you add it. I fixed Priest. --Dfoplayer (talk) 20:41, 22 February 2015 (PST)
Cat-a-lot Changes
I just noticed the changes that allowed this on the New Files Special page. Is there a way to do this with the Uncategorized Files page as well? There's where a lot of the images I've been sorting have been from. HotCat has sped things up, but I think Cat-a-lot would make things even faster.
I know how much you've been struggling with this one though, so no pressure. --Space Fish 17:04, 24 February 2015 (PST)
- Yea, I added to New files. However, I still can not click the whitespace of the gallery images. I'm working on that, unless you can click them, then my job is done. I will add to Special:uncategorizedXXX, but as for clicking the whitespace, I won't know. --Dfoplayer (talk) 17:09, 24 February 2015 (PST)
- Oh, you're right. I just saw the tab and automatically assumed it was functioning. My bad. --Space Fish 17:12, 24 February 2015 (PST)
Is there a way to say add certain text like a template to multiple pages easily?
As otherwise I'd have to go to each related skill page and add it. If there's not, oh well.--Fishman46 (talk) 21:45, 26 February 2015 (PST)
- Not that I know of. AutoWikiBot is probably the closest. However, using AutoWiki without testing the search parameters may take some time, so its probably better for manual work. --Dfoplayer (talk) 21:47, 26 February 2015 (PST)
- Now I'd have to ask what did you want? From recent changes, I'm using AutoWikiBrowser to add navskill templates to all skills. However, it is really easy because there is an option to add text at the end of the page. If you wanted a template in the middle of the page, you are gonna have to test search parameters. In that case, it's pretty much a find and replace sort of thing. --Dfoplayer (talk) 09:07, 6 March 2015 (PST)
Including Items in Skill Pages
Hello Dfoplayer. I have a question pertaining to items boosting Skill levels. Do you feel it is necessary to provide the names and/or links for the items that increase skill level relating to the specific skill page? (eg: Including a reference to Wolf Fang Pole in the Skill Page: Dragon Fang or Wind Changer for the Skill Page: Weapon Uppercut) --Altair (talk) 15:30, 9 March 2015 (PDT)
- Yea. That sounds like a great idea. I remember going through rods for summoner skills.--Dfoplayer (talk) 16:54, 9 March 2015 (PDT)
- Another question. Do you feel that Avatar equips and titles should be included as well? If so, there is a pretty good source online (a skill builder by dnf.exrpg) that provides the items that provide stat boosts (includes normal equips, titles, and avatars). However, the wiki doesn't let me put the link in even though I answer the questions correctly... It's quite outdated, and it's written only in Korean, Chinese, and Japanese. The last update for the item list was about a year ago. You can use Google Chrome for a base translation. Anyway, when you do select your class etc. the list of items is located as the Pink characters on top of the Skill description. Anyways, I'm not too familiar with items since I mostly played PvE, so I'm going to hold off on including items in skill pages until the released Beta. --Altair (talk) 20:01, 9 March 2015 (PDT)
- More work, I suppose. I think someone had trouble with linking. Text link dnf. Are you talking about CAPTCHA? --Dfoplayer (talk) 20:59, 9 March 2015 (PDT)
- I've never been too good at inserting links on wikis; it was an error on my part. I used <> instead of surrounding the link with []. But yeah, that's the correct link. Anyways...now that we know when the Beta release date is, Wiki-ers can plan the pages accordingly. I can probably finish updating the Elemental Bomber skill pages by Friday and then look through the item database on the wiki and match to those on dnf.exrpg.. While doing so, I will be updating the item pages and skill pages accordingly. I'll start with the Mage equip and Mage skill pages. As for the Skill Pages, I'll probably either separate the items by tables or bullets and sort them by type and level, whatever looks pleasing to the eye. I'll send you an example later before I get started. Overall, the amount of work doesn't seem too immense.
- More work, I suppose. I think someone had trouble with linking. Text link dnf. Are you talking about CAPTCHA? --Dfoplayer (talk) 20:59, 9 March 2015 (PDT)
- If you feel like we need magic sealed items, go ahead. Is there a CDnF or KDnF page with monster drops? That's probably the most important part of a game wiki (that and skills/quests). --Dfoplayer (talk) 09:49, 10 March 2015 (PDT)
- I don't know any off the top of my head. Sorry. The only one I could find were Pinks from boss drops from dnfcentral boss drops. They also have some info on sealed items: dnfcentral items. But this too is outdated; it doesn't include patches from the M.Mage to later. I thought about checking on dnf.duowan, but it doesn't load on my laptop atm... I'll notify you if I find any more. --Altair (talk) 12:42, 10 March 2015 (PDT)
- I found a few more links that may help with filling out pages on the wikis. They are located on the DnF Central website. Here are the links:
- DnF Central Link: Korean Patches/Wikis
- I recommend the link with the mirror wiki:Korean DnF wiki. It contains quite a bit of information. You can use Google translate to get a sub-par translation of the Korean text.
- DnF Central Link: Chinese Patches/Wikis
- DnF Central Link: Korean Patches/Wikis
- Note: These links pretty much show more links to alternate sources of information grouped by category. I'll notify you if I find any more sources. --Altair (talk) 14:18, 19 March 2015 (PDT)

Question about making pages bigger
Yeah sorry, updating all the Elemental Bomber skills is taking longer than I expected. I won't be able to do the item updates until way later. Anyways, I have a question about this page: Elemental Shift. Is the updated skill table too large? If so, is there a way to make the page wider or should I separate the Attack Strength and Additional Effects into separate tables like the older ones? --Altair (talk) 20:05, 15 March 2015 (PDT)
- The page is as wide as your browser and it is automatically resized when you move the window's size. Right now, I see Burn, Freeze, Curse, and Electrocution Levels redundant. Can you move them into one column? Other than that, I like the old skill table; it's more readable and concise.--Dfoplayer (talk) 20:13, 15 March 2015 (PDT)
- Okay, I changed it. I color coded the element sections. Does it look better now? Should I do the same thing for the Magic Cannon and Elemental Shield pages? --Altair (talk) 21:46, 15 March 2015 (PDT)
- Magic Cannon should be fine. Elemental shield can be shrunken down from Shadow Shield: Slow Chance Shadow Shield: Slow Level Shadow Shield: Slow Duration to just Shadow Shield and underneath it are the three effects, similar to Elemental Shift. --Dfoplayer (talk) 21:50, 15 March 2015 (PDT)
- For the Elemental Shield page, should I switch the Light Shield and Shadow Shield sections to be consistent with the other pages? --Altair (talk) 22:55, 15 March 2015 (PDT)
- If you want to, go ahead. I don't think that is too important. --Dfoplayer (talk) 07:52, 16 March 2015 (PDT)

Is it possible to add the DFO Core forums link to the Media Wiki Side bar?
As I noticed someone adding Nexus to it and it had me wonder A) if this is possible and B) if that was allowed.
Response from DFO-World's Administration
I had a discussion with other DFO-World staff about this issue in our site staff section on the Mabinogi World forums, and the general consensus was that it was a good idea, seeing how active and well moderated the DFO Nexus forums are. The main issue I think is present here, is that there is currently very loose organization amongst the DFO-World Wiki staff, and so I was not able to consult with all of the staff and moderators here who only use the DFO-World Wiki. Those who aren't involved with any of our sister sites were not able to see this discussion, but this can easily be remedied if we decide on a place to discuss DFO-World staff stuff. I think the #dfo IRC channel would be a good place for it.
For some background as to why I am now DFO-World's lead administrator, a little over a year ago the DFO-World domain would have been left to expire as a result of inactivity, spam bots, closed registration, and the complete absence of any administration/editing presence here, had I not stepped forward and agreed to run things here. So I have had the position of lead administrator here since May 2014. I decided to 'partner' wtih the DFO Nexus forums because of my experience with the community there, as well as the fact that they are active, well moderated and well operated, and were the first major DFO fan forums available after the closure of DFOSource forums and Nexon's DFO forums. The community at DFO Nexus is generally more up-to-date with what's going on in kDnF, and many people there are regularly making contributions to our wiki. Their forum rules also align well with our own Wiki policies, as well as to our wiki and forum rules on our sister sites.
To summarize, the person who put that there (me) is also the person who decides whether this is allowed or not. I made an attempt to consult with other known DFO-World staff before making the decision to partner up with the DFO Nexus forums. I think it would be a good idea for the members, editors and staff here on DFO-World to try and organize ourselves by regularly being present in the #dfo IRC channel on irc.ppirc.net. If you would like to discuss this with me further, feel free to come to the IRC channel (in the sidebar) or bring up your concerns on my talk page. Tessa (talk) 04:36, 19 March 2015 (PDT)
Removing legacy skill tables
Would it be ok to remove the old skill tables as shown here:Summon Ador? I don't think there is any reason to have 2 tables for skills anymore.
- Yea, we need to remove them. There is no reason to have 2 tables, other than archive. Since skills change, I think archiving those is somewhat useless, unlike game content(cough, blitz points) --Dfoplayer (talk) 07:46, 24 March 2015 (PDT)
Consistency
Hey, I've seen two sets of skill tables one that displays the cast and cool time Force Wave: Neutral and ones that have them in the details M. Bone Crusher. Not sure which one we should be using but I want them to be consistent. So, which do you think we should use? Blakdoxaduo (talk) 08:26, 27 March 2015 (PDT)
- I would personally stick with Force Wave: Neutral and keep cooldown and casttime in the tables. That way, players know that they does not change.
- To be consistent, we should be using "max skill row", colored in green, such as M. Bone Crusher.
- Side note, someone was not using our "wikitable" so some skills look completely different. I can't think of any right now... I should have recorded that. --Dfoplayer (talk) 09:34, 27 March 2015 (PDT)
- Everspace created Template:SkillTableHeader to use since the other one is someplace. Blakdoxaduo (talk) 21:43, 28 March 2015 (PDT)
- Also, if a skill does decrease in cast time like Ice Walls, it should be listed. Currently in my skill revamp project I have put any information that doesn't change as it levels in a section called "Attributes". Compare the table in Needle Throw and Template:SkillData Needle Throw, one is far more clear what you get out of levelling compared to the other. If the cool-down does change, something like "Cooldown/Cast Time: Varying" could be used instead and then listed in the table.
- This is all good information for a Style Guide

- Everspace created Template:SkillTableHeader to use since the other one is someplace. Blakdoxaduo (talk) 21:43, 28 March 2015 (PDT)
- I should note that we have a couple types of dungeon maps. Fanatics South Ghent Gate and Mirkwood Hollow. I admit I did mostly Ghent maps way back when.--Dfoplayer (talk) 09:53, 7 April 2015 (PDT)
- How about the map that I have going on my user page? It's written inline. This also allows for generation of new maps pretty quickly. However I do think that some places should get their own special image see: Forgotten Land. -- Everspace (talk) 14:29, 7 April 2015 (PDT)
Pages with gender-bent skills
Do we two separate pages for skills showing gender differences like Nen Shot and Nen Shot (M)? I think it would be better to have all the information on a single page and just highlight the gender differences on the page itself. For the tables, I can create a div container to put them next to each other and have them somewhat centered. What do you think would be the best way to handle these types of pages? Blakdoxaduo (talk) 21:43, 28 March 2015 (PDT)
- Yea, we can combine them. I'm not sure what you are talking about for skillHeader Template. --Dfoplayer (talk) 21:45, 28 March 2015 (PDT)
- Ok, I'll get on those pages when I can and the template thing was just about how some of the tables were kind of out-of-whack (some with difference color schemes) and that the template will help standardize all the skill tables. Blakdoxaduo (talk) 21:49, 28 March 2015 (PDT)
- While this is not a new issue, I think that we should move Mount to Mount (Female) to mirror Mount (Male) rather than try to combine them. Especially since the skill Icons are different occasionally too! This means also I don't have to make a template that shares or is capable of showing 2 videos/icons/navigations... I think that consistency should rule, and nobody should get the nice name. -- Everspace (talk) 23:48, 10 May 2015 (PDT)
Genderizing Classes
Currently we've got Mage and Male Mage. Soon we'll have Slayer and Female Slayer. I think we should expand all "genderless" classes to their full name like Female Mage Female Fighter in all pages. I don't like this ambiguous case and it's making my template attempts very sad. -- Everspace (talk) 19:02, 6 April 2015 (PDT)
- Template attempts? Yes, we could add female and male to the name, if it makes you be more productive. --Dfoplayer (talk) 21:46, 6 April 2015 (PDT)
I'll admit, I'm surprised
So, dunno if you remember me. But way way back when Nexon DFO was a thing, I had helpt the wiki go from a bunch of old info to a bunch of updated info and got a lot of people to update it. I was very proud of it. But with no admins the wiki was kind of in a rough spot. I remember us talking about little things and me talking with the admins of the Mabi wiki to get some admin permission here, and I'm glad you got it because you've really stuck around to keep doing the hard work. Even now you're back working on it and keeping info up to date. The wiki still needs touch ups on the fine data, but overall it's in a fine state and has evolved fairly well, keep up the great work. It really surprises me since I don't see many of the same names over a long time, but you stuck with it. Copain (talk) 01:00, 7 April 2015 (PDT)
- Let's leave it at that I'm happy to see you appear on recent changes. --Dfoplayer (talk) 08:34, 7 April 2015 (PDT)
- Heh, alright Copain (talk) 11:45, 7 April 2015 (PDT)
- TBH, I knew you'd come back. "Oh DFO. How I hate my Relationship with the. And yet I can't quit you... " ;)--Dfoplayer (talk) 11:59, 7 April 2015 (PDT)
- Heh, alright Copain (talk) 11:45, 7 April 2015 (PDT)
Moving Things
Could we move old stuff to new, rather than new stuff to old? Template:NavSkillsFFighter sets a dangerous precedent, and once things are fully moved, I would like to delete old references to keep things tidy. -- Everspace (talk) 18:48, 12 April 2015 (PDT)
- I do agree with you to move skill icons names, but there are quite a bit of files out here. I suppose the best way is to add skill data, then move accordingly.
- I found your template navskills female/male problem. I started some redirects to the correct navskills, which you probably saw. I asked the wiki admin to see if they could install Extension:DynamicPageList so we could find all unused redirects after moving.
- I will revert my edits, then. --Dfoplayer (talk) 18:55, 12 April 2015 (PDT)
- NOTE: Moving .gif files to .png will not work. May need to reupload files. --Dfoplayer (talk) 19:02, 12 April 2015 (PDT)
- 1. My thoughts exactly.
- 2. That would be excellent. It would also be fantastic to just auto-generate those link blobs too. Is it http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:DynamicPageList_(third-party) ? or the other one?
- 3. Thank you.
- Note: I've gotten the extractor going, and can get icons if we need them.
- Also can we get the Module:String if he's going to be installing stuff? Colons are the devil. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Module:String
- Yes, third party. My idea is to use 452's script from wikia to find unused redirects. I have no idea about module: string, but I'll ask. --Dfoplayer (talk) 20:40, 12 April 2015 (PDT)
- I think I see the problem. We can't use colon in file names? What's the plan for those skill names? --Dfoplayer (talk) 21:34, 12 April 2015 (PDT)
- Apparently not. This is why I'm asking for Module:String, it contains a template that can find characters and replace them. {{replace|{{{Name}}}|:|-}} would return for example "Hired Summon- Panzer Horder" which is the name of the file after the wiki has it's way with it. Huge bummer, and I'm not sure what to do about that.
- 3rd party is exciting because I can use the IconLink template in the outputted list (for example:format=,{{IconLink|%TITLE%}},,). This can also be used to generate the skill tables at for say: Summoner as well because I can use the SkillData template to put things in their appropriate categories automatically.

Updating old quest pages
Hey Dfoplayer. While looking through the old epic quest pages, I've noticed that quite a few of them are either missing or incomplete. Would you like me to fill them out? I found a really good source that provides the basic quest briefing and reward dialogue for pre-metastasis epic quests located here. Sadly, it doesn't provide objectives and rewards... For the sake of finding and maintaining game lore, this might be a quite interesting project. --Altair (talk) 13:07, 15 April 2015 (PDT)
- Are the quests still in the game? If they were removed, then the only reason why we would update them is archiving purposes, or lore. I suppose if you complete the current quests, you could update the olds ones. --Dfoplayer (talk) 13:19, 15 April 2015 (PDT)
- Yes, that was my intention. The archive data will be significantly beneficial in the future. For the most part, I believe that most of the higher level quests will be returning to the game. They were re-introducing Gold/Silver Dragon Tournaments on the FB, it wouldn't be surprising if NeoPle brings back the old Shonan quest lines. I'm pretty sure they will get the similar treatment like the Ghent/Bahn Hafen quests where they are just adjusted to a different level range, but the objectives and dialogues pretty much remain the same. Also, many of the higher level Dungeons were technically Otherverse. They are technically bringing back those dungeons until the Time Gate Requiem patch, so I don't see why not. --Altair (talk) 14:44, 15 April 2015 (PDT)
- I never actually participated in the Shonan quest line, so I was not sure if they would keep the dialogue. If you feel like it's a good idea, then yea, we can update them.--Dfoplayer (talk) 14:49, 15 April 2015 (PDT)
- I'm almost done with the current Epic/General Quest line anyways. I just have to search through all the videos/screenshots I made and write down the dialogue/objectives. I have most of the dialogue/rewards/objectives recorded for the quests 55+, so we don't have to worry too much about editing/updating them in the near future. However, due to time constraints, I haven't been able to create a new character to fully record all the exp/gold rewards for all the quests under level 55. As of now, I've been using my Lv. 70 to go through all the quests in Northern Shelter. I was hoping that either RainofShadows or DreadHydrus could fill them out later.
BTW, when actually updating these pages, do you want me to maintain HellMut's and NJoy's formats for consistency reasons?--Altair (talk) 15:07, 15 April 2015 (PDT)- It may be too late now, but in the future you should keep HellMut's formatting of template EpicQuest2. Makes it much easier and you don't need that hardcoded stuff like class="wiki-infobox" cellspacing=2px style; width: 100px;"--Dfoplayer (talk) 15:14, 15 April 2015 (PDT)
- Yeah, I've noticed that HellMut's format is significantly smaller in comparison and makes it easier to input data. I'll use HellMut's format from now on. I'll change the formats on the other pages after I'm done. It'll be a simple cut and paste job. I'll be sure to notify RainofShadows about the format changes later. --Altair (talk) 15:23, 15 April 2015 (PDT)
- I have encountered a problem while using HellMuT's table format. It does not allow the initialization of new rows for Dungeon, Dungeon Dialogue and Upon Completion Dialogue. I may have to edit Tea's current table format to accept these new rows. Is that okay with you? --Altair (talk) 13:53, 16 April 2015 (PDT)
- It may be too late now, but in the future you should keep HellMut's formatting of template EpicQuest2. Makes it much easier and you don't need that hardcoded stuff like class="wiki-infobox" cellspacing=2px style; width: 100px;"--Dfoplayer (talk) 15:14, 15 April 2015 (PDT)
- Whatever you need to complete your work is fine. Especially since you added #if, it should not affect the previous ones. --Dfoplayer (talk) 14:59, 16 April 2015 (PDT)
- Hey, Dfoplayer. After changing a few quest pages to the new template, I've noticed that there seems to be a line break inconsistency in the objectives row section which adds an unnecessary break at the end of the line (e.g. Sealing Away the Death Dragon - Covetous Dwarves). I've actually noticed this before I edited the template, and tried to find the source of the error. However, I still can't seem to find any inconsistencies in the code. When you have spare time, could you doublecheck if I'm wrong? Thanks. --Altair (talk) 12:32, 22 April 2015 (PDT)
- It has to do with how it's doing the ifs. After every IF there is a line break or something similar causing problems. This is why I switched to HTML tables rather than wiki-markup in templates that I've made. I'm going to rework it to be less verbose since there's a lot of unnecessary CSS taking up space. -- Everspace (talk) 13:50, 22 April 2015 (PDT)
- Thank you for cleaning up the template. I noticed you deleted the QP part. Sorry if I seem rude, but after doing the first change, I intentionally left that part in so that it wouldn't interfere with epic pages for archive reasons. Would it be possible to instead put the QP part as an optional IF instead? Or, of course, we can always set it as RewardOther. Also, the change also made the font slightly larger on the right hand side. Should I just insert the HTML small tag around texts to make up for this? --Altair (talk) 14:53, 22 April 2015 (PDT)
- That's reasonable, rude would be insulting my mother. I'm really not concerned with past versions of a live game, nor am I aware of any version that still uses QP. The archive in this case is fairly useless and shouldn't be overly preserved. If worse comes to worse, they can look at the source for the amount of QP earned from that quest. I wouldn't bother changing the font, as it would have to be everywhere. I would however like to include the dialogue portraits in the quest text. I'll look at making a template for that, but this would mean that portrait images should be standardized now too. I'm thinking something like File:NPC NAME Portrait.png -- Everspace (talk) 17:41, 22 April 2015 (PDT)
- I think I've seen an alternate version of this idea implemented in one of the old epic quest pages such as Beginning an Adventure - Uncle Linus. It seems like a rather great idea. However, a problem may arise when many NPCs tend to exchange dialogue at once such as in The Gathering Storm - The Nameless Woman or Sealing Away the Death Dragon - Death Dragon Spirazzi. In such a scenario, the dialogue row will become quite large. If we can find a solution to this problem, then I'm all for inserting NPC portraits. --Altair (talk) 13:13, 23 April 2015 (PDT)
- Why not put it in a collapsed table like the skill navigation things? It's there if you want to see, but can instead just see what the rewards/objectives are. Also, it can protect from spoilers! -- Everspace (talk) 20:52, 23 April 2015 (PDT)
- Brilliant idea. Can we do this after we're done updating the quest pages first? I'm still grinding on a few of my characters atm to fill out empty epic quests on the wiki. While I'm doing so, I will be periodically uploading temporary portraits of missing NPCs for the template. Hopefully SpaceFish can find some better quality ones later to replace them. --Altair (talk) 23:02, 23 April 2015 (PDT)

- Hey Dfoplayer, I'm pretty much done updating all the Epic Quests to the current patch. I'll have the Using Magic Stones quest done by the end of today. All that needs to be done now is to convert the quest table formats into Tea's version which takes on average ~10 min per page... As of this moment, all the epics for Northern Shelter and Bahn Hafen have been converted. I have the data for the Feat and General Quests ready. I can probably finish those by tomorrow. Filling in the old quests are not mandatory, I've just been filling them in because of my addiction to in game lore. So what's the plan with the format changes? --Altair (talk) 19:17, 7 May 2015 (PDT)
- Well, I'm pretty sure we need to convert quests to Tea's template. Once pipe escape extension has been added, I plan to convert skill pages to Template:FormatSkill Page. An example is on my user page. Right now, the current wikitable for skill values does not work in template, which is where the extension will come in. We also need to update the format for the skill icons to the correct filename. However, mediawiki does not like colons, : , in a file name, so we have DPL, but DPL looks ugly and needs to be fixed. User:Everspace's heading is the ugly part. --Dfoplayer (talk) 19:53, 7 May 2015 (PDT)

Still using Bgblue?
I want to know if we're still using it for skill tables or will all skill tables be gray. - Blakdoxaduo (talk) 11:53, 22 April 2015 (PDT)
{{Bgblue}}
- We might. If i change the template:skilltableheader to hard code borders and spacing instead of class=wikitable, then we can use Bgblue. However, it breaks other pages that depend on tableheader. And then i tried to change class to bluetable, which works for skills, but non-skills became all blue. I tempted to create my own mediawiki as a sandbox, and fill up recents changes to test which combination works. Of course, we could always create template:skillTableHeader2 as a quick fix. --Dfoplayer (talk) 12:14, 22 April 2015 (PDT)
- Coming back to this cause I'm seeing something strange with the tables using {{SkillTableHeader}}. Whenever there are second rows in the header they aren't affected and appear as normal rows. In fact, I've noticed that SkillTableHeader makes {{SkillRow}} redundant as the former already aligns text to the center. Same with {{MaxSkillRow}} except for the special color. Do we still need the Bgblue and SkillRow templates? - Blakdoxaduo (talk) 22:00, 25 May 2015 (PDT)
- Forgot to provide an example page Fusion Craft - Blakdoxaduo (talk) 22:03, 25 May 2015 (PDT)
- SkillRow is, I think, pretty much outdated. It is no longer necessary. However, there are over a thousand pages that still use it so while marking it with delete is okay, it won't be for awhile. As for Bgblue and MaxSkillRow, they are just coloring purposes. You know, fancy wiki is better than plain white wiki. I haven't fixed Bgblue yet. Similarly to skillrow, bgblue and maxskillrow are widely used.
- For the second row, I think everspace knows more why the second row doesn't have shading. --Dfoplayer (talk) 22:18, 25 May 2015 (PDT)

Soundtrack Additions
Hey Dfoplayer. I noticed that you and the other wiki-ers have amassed quite a few soundtrack files on the Soundtrack page, but the wiki is still missing quite a few pertaining to the old DFO. I still have the old DFO files which contain these soundtracks still in .ogg format. Would you like me to share them with you? I can send them via e-mail if you want. I can sort out the ones already in the wiki if you want, and send the rest to you.
As for the songs you are missing for towers, I believe they are the following names. I believe they are still in the recent client.:
- Tower of Despair:
- despair_tower_top.ogg
- despair_tower_under.ogg
(Edit of my previous post: I know for sure about the above ones.)
- Altar of Infinity:
- Bloodtower01.ogg
- Bloodtower02.ogg
- Bloodtower03.ogg
- Altar of Ascension uses the same music as Infinity, but I'm not sure which one exactly. I'm still trying to pinpoint the tempo.
- Abysmal Arena:
- eviltower01.ogg
Sorry for the confusion. --Altair (talk) 00:21, 22 May 2015 (PDT)
- Actually, I have both DFO from Alpha and Beta sound files. If you sort them out, and leave a note saying "used in DFO Alpha" or "DFO Beta", that would be great. The files are listed here.--Dfoplayer (talk) 09:13, 22 May 2015 (PDT)
- Hmm... Sorry, I was wrong earlier about the songs. I fixed my earlier post. Sure, I can do that. I can categorize them by dungeon as well if necessary. You wouldn't happen to have the original Seria's Gate or original Elvenguard songs that played in the original DFO beta do you? Those songs were my favorite. Sadly, I wasn't smart enough to save those files back in the day. :( --Altair (talk) 14:51, 22 May 2015 (PDT)
Okay, I finished looking through the songs. I believe the tower songs above are correct. Assume that all the songs are from the BETA folder unless specified. I put the song names under categorized tabs to prevent flooding your page. Here's what I got:
I hope that this helps. --Altair (talk) 17:22, 22 May 2015 (PDT)
Request for Extensions
Hey, I've been wondering if it's possible to get the Semantic MediaWiki as well as Variables extensions installed? They would help greatly with the current Skill Project as well as future work. They're used to great effect over at the Guild Wars 2 wiki and SMW is installed on the Mabinogi wiki, too. Gardios (talk) 20:23, 25 May 2015 (PDT)
- I'll see what I can do. --Dfoplayer (talk) 21:41, 25 May 2015 (PDT)
- What were you planning to do with both of these extensions? I partly understand Variables, but Semantic? What's that primarily used for? --Dfoplayer (talk) 22:08, 25 May 2015 (PDT)
- I want to use SMW to reduce redundancies and therefore inconsistencies for various things. I can give a couple of examples:
- Currently, boss unique weapons are listed at least two times, on the weapons page as well as the dungeon page. With SMW, we can simply create a page for the actual weapon and have it automatically displayed on the weapons and dungeon page—if there is a change, you only need to change it once (on the page for the weapon itself).
- Another example would be monsters. Aside from the page for the monster itself, they all have their own template as well, and usually the page simply uses the template and nothing else. With SMW the extra template for every monster is unnecessary.
- The Skill Project heavily relies on the use of categories and names, i.e. (from what I've seen) the icon name has to follow a certain pattern. With SMW you can simply link any icon you want to any skill without being restricted to certain naming conventions.Gardios (talk) 18:55, 26 May 2015 (PDT)
- "For variables, is arrays not good enough?" -admin. Arrays
- "Semantic... have fun with it lol. We have it on MWW too but it's a gigantic endeavor to migrate to it." -admin. Are you up for the task to do whatever Semantic does? If I remember, everspace said it the name of the icon should be almost EXACTLY the same as the skill. Not sure about weapons and monsters.
- --Dfoplayer (talk) 10:06, 28 May 2015 (PDT)
- All the monster stuff is done through some wacky template magic, and is next on my "shit list" so to speak. At some point I would like to make it better. If the Semantic plugin can make it better, why not? I think it will solve some of our more interesting problems. And yes the Icon should be the same as the skill. It also makes searching for icons and the like easier on us anyway. -- Everspace (talk) 13:36, 28 May 2015 (PDT)
- Okay. And Variables extension? I explained to admin saying we were going to use them in skills and perform some mathematical function. Then she asked "is arrays not good enough?" So, any particular reason why arrays is better? --Dfoplayer (talk) 14:24, 28 May 2015 (PDT)
- I'm already familiar with SMW, so we have at least one person here who knows how to work with it. Ideally, most editors shouldn't need to know how to use SMW anyway since it's hidden away in the template implementations. As for Variables... now that I've looked into it, it seems like Arrays is good enough, even if it's not as straightforward. Gardios (talk) 16:48, 29 May 2015 (PDT)
