Description

"This is where you'll be buried!"

Shadow Knight Sayoung guards the entrance leading to the Slums Gate. He was originally a disciple of Grand Master Siran, but abandoned the path of the katana in order to attain power through magical means. Sayoung swore fealty to the Dark Elves so that they could teach him their dark magics—but instead, they enslaved his soul with devious spells. Sayoung now zealously serves them, and guards their subterranean city of Noire Ferra with undying fervor.

Move List

Strategy

  • Because Sayoung is a Soul Bender, immediately rushing him before he can cast his offensive spells can make the fight considerably easier.
  • Sayoung will periodically cast Afterimage of Keiga.png Afterimage of Keiga in order to alleviate damage dealt to him; due to its somewhat long cast time, it can be interrupted.
  • When downed, Sayoung may use Quick Rebound.png Quick Rebound to get back up and quickly counterattack with Drive Slash.png Drive Slash, Moonlight Slash.png Moonlight Slash or Ghost Slash.png Ghost Slash. Be wary while he is crouching.
  • His AI is split into two phases: At the start of the fight, he will begin by spamming Khazan.png Kazan, Hazy-Eyed Bremen.png Bremen, Ice Saya.png Saya, and Plague Rhasa.png Rhasa, and occasionally using a ridiculously powerful Ghost Slash.png Ghost Slash. Avoid the circles whenever possible; Plague Rhasa.png Rhasa will inflict deadly debuffs and Ice Saya.png Saya may Frozen (Status).png Freeze (Status) players.
    • When his health is dropped down to half, he will stop spamming ghost circles and begin playing more aggressively, using close-ranged attacks and powerful skills like Tombstone.png Tombstone or Phantasmal Slayer (Soul Bender).png Phantasmal Slayer. Players should keep their distance once he begins Ghost Stepping with Afterimage of Keiga.png Afterimage of Keiga, due to Phantasmal Slayer (Soul Bender).png Phantasmal Slayer's long axis reach.

Notes / Oddities

  • Always spawns in the opposite corner of where the player enters, regardless of dungeon layout.
  • Has no health regeneration.
  • Equipped with a +9 Demon Katana Siran.
  • Before the Rebirth patch, Sayoung weighed as much as a Priest in PvP, and was almost impossible to launch. With the coming of Second Impact, however, his weight was considerably reduced.
  • After the Metastasis Update, Sayoung can also be found as an APC in the special Frost Cave dungeon. He will be freed after answering three of his questions and will either turn hostile or friendly depending on what you answer.
