Nomadic Rebellions

From DFO World Wiki
Jump to: navigation, search

The Nomadic Rebellions are a series bloody battles that occurred atop Mount Thunderime between the Bantu and the Pelos/De Los Empire. Most of these battles are due to the appearance and reawakening of the Ice Dragon Skasa.

History

The First Nomadic Rebellion

The First Nomadic Rebellion

In Arad Year 500, a giant dragon known as Ice Dragon Skasa suddenly appeared atop the Charnak Mountain deep within the Snow Mountains. With the dragon's unexpected arrival, it caused a large number of Bantu people to die. In order to survive, the Bantu, who had lived for generations in isolation on the Arad Continent, had to venture across the Stru Mountains and invade the territory of the Pelos Empire for the first time.

To counter the sudden acts of aggression, many of the Pelos vassal states formed a coalition army and engaged in a long battle for about thirty years in the border region with the Bantu. The war ended with the Ice Dragon Skasa entering hibernation for unknown reasons in Arad Year 526. After the threat of the dragon dissipated, the Bantu returned to their hometown. Despite having to retreat from the war, they made a strong impression on the people of Arad by revealing themselves as a strong and courageous fighting force.

As a result of this 30-year long battle, it was called the "Nomadic Rebellion" or the "Battle of Snow" by future generations because of the snow-capped mountains.[1]

The Second Nomadic Rebellion

The Second Nomadic Rebellion

In Arad Year 830, the Ice Dragon reawakened. In order to lessen further bloodshed and prevent future wars, the Bantu and the newly established De Los Empire came to an agreement. They made a treaty that allowed the Bantu to retreat to an area known as Chantri if the dragon were to reawaken. Five years later, the Dragon went back into hibernation, allowing the Bantu to return to the Sturli Plain.

In Arad Year 968, roughly three years after Leon Heinrich De Los III's coronation as the new De Los Emperor, the Ice Dragon Skasa reawakened from its slumber, causing the Bantu to once again invade De Los territory and cross the Stru Mountains. However, this time the Bantu had asked the De Los Empire to uphold their treaty and lease Chantri to them until the dragon went back into hibernation.

The young Heinrich III initially agreed to the Bantu's request and rented the territory to them. However within two years later, he sent a secret mercenary organization known as the Mist, to raid Chantri, which triggered the Second Nomadic Rebellion.

In this battle, the Imperial Army attacked the village of Amros, the largest urban holy place of the Bantu, where it is said that more than 80% of the Bantu people died. Afterward, the Imperial Army pursued their victory by challenging the Ice Dragon Skasa.

However, they underestimated the steep terrain of the Stru Mountains and the power of the Ice Dragon, and ultimately lost. Thanks to their defeat, the Bantu tribes were able to escape the fate of genocide and still continue its legacy. But due to the actions of the De Los Emperor, the Bantu became incredibly hostile toward outsiders.

In Arad Year 969, the Ice Dragon re-entered hibernation. The Bantu once again returned to the Sturli Plain to re-establish a new life, but while doing so, they dreaded and prepared for the day of Skasa's eventual reawakening.[2]
