The land was covered in dust and smoke in the aftermath, as the Imperial Army exploited its strength to suppress the Dark Elves. The prideful Imperial Army regarded the Dark Elves as nothing more than specks on the grand domain of the empire. But one day, without warning, the imperial soldiers fell severely ill. They initially blamed the epidemic, but they eventually discovered their sickness was caused by some strange magic. Soon, imperial soldiers began deserting their barracks, despite the treats of severe punishment issued by the Imperial Army. Deserters that were found and arrested were all mumbling the same words: "The king is calling..." "The kingdom shall last forever..." Suspecting an evil curse cast by the Dark Elves, the Imperial War Council summoned exorcists to break the curse. Not one of the exorcists was successful. One fateful day, the scouts came across a hundred dead deserters piled up at the entrance of a cave. The soldiers were greatly unnerved by this news, and an investigation group was dispatched to the cave before the public could learn of the details. However, the investigators worsened the situation by disturbing the ancient king, who was the source of the strange curse, from his deep sleep inside the cave. The imperial soldiers would not dare to turn their faces toward the Slums in fear of the curse of the ancient king... That is, until an unsung Dungeon Fighter finally put the ancient king back to his eternal sleep.
