- Nugol
The boss of Screaming Cavern is a fully matured, giant Nugol. It's the source of all the Nugol Larvae you've fought in the room before the boss.
Contents
Move List
- Cannot be grabbed, launched or knocked down.
- Summons Nugol Larva. It does this en masse, and will spit out multiple Larvae every time it does this. The boss can consume a Nugol Larva to heal itself of 1.5-2 bars of health.
- Spits poisonous globs at you. These explode on contact with anything and inflict severe fire damage.
- Creates spikes from its body and spins rapidly, while moving towards its target. While it's spinning, it will continue to shoot out spikes in eight directions which are very lethal - causing Bleed with a 100% proc rate. It also reflects projectile attacks while it's spinning, so it's better to run if you are a ranged character.
- Burrows underground to move to another spot. It gains true super armor during this "attack".
- At any point, it can pop out of the ground to attack you from below. When it's in Giant form, it will create a blow-back aura when it un-burrows, knocking down everything around it.
Strategy
- Note that it can spit out as many Nugol Larva as it wants. A prolonged fight with the Giant Nugol is extremely dangerous as the Larvae will attempt to eat each other and grow into Adult Nugols, potentially spawning an infinite number of strong enemies which will interrupt your attempts to attack the Giant Nugol. Furthermore, the Giant Nugol can consume as many Nugol Larvae as it wants to heal itself at anytime, so you have to concentrate on killing the Giant Nugol quickly, or kill the Larvae before they can be consumed.
- The Giant Nugol's spinning attack can be canceled with force, by certain attacks such as an Asura's Ground Quaker.
- It's very easy to bleed at 300 damage per tick if you get hit multiple times by the spikes, as Bleed stacks with every proc. Stand in the blind spots in-between the spike projectiles (it's easy to find these spots after fighting it enough). Bring lots of Mutant Strawberries or Bleed Recovery potions to stop the bleeding, or you will die very quickly when hit.
- The spikes also have limited range, and you can simply run far away from it to avoid the spikes completely.
- It's not immune to hitstun: A party of four extremely fast attackers can stunlock it and kill it before it can even make a move, although doing so is difficult.

Notes
- Upon consuming enough Nugol Larva, it can heal beyond it's maximum health amount, giving it an extra 4-12 bars of health (depending on dungeon road). When it reaches this part of the fight, it will grow in size and become a much bigger target, while at the same time becoming much deadlier.
- While it's large, it will always generate a blow-back aura when it un-burrows or starts the spinning attack, which means you will be knocked away and unable to run, forcing you to take a beating from it's attacks. It also seems to gain true super-armor when it's large, which means you can no longer stun-lock it or interrupt its attacks.
- If you cannot outdamage the rate at which it consumes Nugol Larvae, consider letting it spit and consume all the Nugol Larvae until it grows large. The Giant Nugol will not consume Larvae as often as when it was smaller, so you'll have an easier time preventing it from healing back to full health. However, this also means that it will use it's other attacks more often (especially the spinning attack), so be prepared to dodge.
- This is extremely risky as any stray Larvae will continue to eat each other and grow into Adult Nugols, creating more powerful enemies. Most of the time, it's better to just leave the dungeon instead of wasting more resources if you can't outdamage it's healing.
