This is the glossary for common DFO terms.

Numbers as Commands

  • 24z, 48z, etc.: common terms for arrow key presses in certain directions and then a key. The numbers correspond to the arrows on the number pad.
    • For example, 26z means down, right, z; 48z means left, up, z.
    • 5 is neutral (no arrow key presses).
    • 1, 3, 7, and 9 correlate to diagonal directions, meaning pressing two keys at the same time.

A

Arad

The main world in which the story of DFO takes place. Arad is home to many creatures within various environments. The Mage and

Gunner characters both come from Empyrean and are not natives of Arad.

Archmage

The awakened form of the Elementalist sub-class.

Aspd

Colloquial term for Attack Speed.

Asura

One of the Slayer sub-classes. Uses wave-sword skills that have a longer reach. At level 50, the Asura awakens as a Dark Knight.

Battle Mage

One of the Mage sub-classes. Battle Mages focus on using melee and magic skills together. They use a unique magic called Chasers

in battle. At level 50, the Battle Mage can awaken as the Bellatrix.

Behemoth

A gigantic flying whale on which exists a continent; thus known as the flying continent. Lives in/by the Middle Ocean. See Behemoth for

information concerning the Behemoth dungeons.

Bellatrix

The awakened form of the Battle Mage.

Berserker

A Slayer sub-class, many skills consume HP for attacks. When the Berserker hits level 50, they can awaken as a Hell Bringer.

Blade Master

A Slayer sub-class that specializes in sword skills, and is given a license to use beam-swords. Has a mastery in a variety of weapons, and a quicker cool down between switching weapons. At level 50, the Blade Master Awakens as a Grand Master.

BM

A common abbreviation for Battle Mage.

Brooklyn

The westernmost tip of Pandemonium and one of the latter's three major regions. Before Pandemonium broke away from planet Terra, it was the center of a thriving civilization and culture. Today, its skyline consists of grotesque buildings and streets in complete disrepair. Located to the west is Bloomingdale's, inhabited by a small community of those who escaped from the Apostles, and to the east Union Square.

Broomstick

The iconic weapon of the Witch sub-class, the Broomstick is used for heightened aerial manuverability and attack ability. Witches are able to

enchant the Broomstick with either Dark or Water element.

Buff

A common term reffering to benificial passive effects. Buffs can be applied through various means including spells, potions, equipment, and summons.

Chasers

Chasers are a unique form of magic used by Battle Mages. As the Battle Mage uses different attack combos Chasers are summoned around her.

Chasers give buffs and are also able to be used to attack opponents. Chasers come in five forms: Neutral, Light, Shadow, Fire, and Water.

Devolution

A general term reffering to when the creatures in Arad seemingly went mad and began attacking people. The devolution has been linked to the arrival of the Apostles in Arad from Pandemonium.

Elementalist

One of the Mage sub-classes. Elementalists focus on magic related to the four elements: Fire, Water, Light, and Shadow. At level 50, the Elementalist can awaken as the Archmage.

Empyrean

Little is known about Empyrean's past, save the fact that it had been in the past a highly developed civilization with an advanced understanding in magic. A millennium before the time of Bakal's reign of terror over Empyrean, peoples of Empyrean and Arad maintained a close contact via the Sky Tower. In response to Bakal's severance of the only link to the underworld and his subsequent prohibition on magic in an attempt to suppress all forms of resistance, Empyreans cultivated a new civilization of science and technology. Empyrean today possesses a unique mixture of Oriental themes and elaborate high technology.

Gaia

The awakened form of the Summoner sub-class.

GBL

Stands for Grand Blue Lore. It is a group that follows the ideals of their founder, Leslie Bagrans, who traveled on the back of the Behemoth to study/attain

ultimate knowledge. They built a temple on the back of the Behemoth so that any scholars interested in joining Leslie in enlightenment could do so. After Leslie passed

away, the GBL was formally created by the other scholars. The group that is incredibly devoted, going so far as to creating their own armory filled with cannons,

attack blimps, and other assorted weaponry. Recently, part of the group has come under the control of Lotus, whose true motives are yet unknown. See GBL for info

on dungeon enemies.

Kazan

The demon that lives in the arm of the slayer.

Mage

The main magic using class of the game. The Mage uses a variety of spells in battle. At level 20, the Mage can choose one of four sub-classes: the Battle Mage, the Elementalist, the Summoner, or the Witch.

Middle Ocean

An ocean in the sky of Arad. It's prevented from falling on Arad by a gigantic magical pentacle, seen in the background on most official artwork. Sky Tower reaches into Middle Ocean, and the Behemoth swims in/near it. Empyrean is the land that lies above the Middle Ocean.

Nen

A source of Light-elemental magic; Nen Masters make use of this in their attacks.

Pandemonium

Pandemonium was formerly a part of a flourishing planet named Terra. Terra's breakneck development in culture and technology soon led to a

cataclysmic war, in which the warring nations promptly destroyed themselves and their home planet with an array of high-tech arsenals. The resulting destruction of the

planet caused the city of Terra to break away and wander across space and time. During the city's numerous rendezvous with alien planets, various types of life form

flowed in, brewing chaos and pandemonium in their midst. For this reason, people began calling Terra by its new name, Pandemonium. Pandemonium is currently in contact

with Arad.

Skill Points

Skill Points, often abbreviated as SP, is used for advancing the level of skills. Skill Points are awarded upon leveling up.

Sky Tower

A tower that reaches from the surface of Arad to the Middle Ocean and thereby to Empyrean. Sky tower was created by the inhabitants of Empyrean over a thousand years ago. When the evil dragon Bakal cut off communication between Empyrean and Arad Sky tower disappeared without a trace. It has only recently reappeared for reasons unknown. See Sky Tower for information about the Sky Tower dungeons.

Slayer

A class with a demon-possessed arm. The Slayer has a multitude of sword techniques that are short to mid-ranged. At level 20, the Slayer can choose one of four sub-classes: An Asura, Berserker, Blade Master, or Soul Bender.

Sorceress

The awakened form of the Witch sub-class.

Soul Bender

A sub-class of Slayer that uses dark-based attacks, and has a resistance to dark-element attacks. Awakens as a Soul Reaper at 50.

Summoner

One of the Mage sub-classes. Summoners focus on summoning various creatures and using them to fight. At level 50, the Summoner can awaken as the Gaia.

Terra

1. The name of the planet from which Pandemonium broke away.

2. The former name of Pandemonium.

Witch

One of the Mage sub-classes. Witches focus on spells involving probability and alchemy. Witches also gain the unique ability to make extended jumps and aerial attacks using a Broomstick. At level 50, the Witch can awaken as the Sorceress.
