Heart of the Genesis (Epic Quests)

The greedy Gold King Widir dug past the Gold Tunnel to search for more gold. There, he discovered a stone tomb where the ancient demons Balrogs were in slumber. Terrified, Widir sealed the door of the tomb, but it was too late: the impact of the Great Metastasis awakened the Balrogs. Balrog King Vartarucis offered Widir his help to get his city back from the Dark Elves if he released them from the tomb. When Widir had to relinquish the Gold Tunnel to the adventurers, he lied to them, saying that Vartarucis forced him to mine gold and fooled them into breaking the Balrogs out of their tomb.

Reappearance of the Dwarven King

Briefing	Queen Maya: "Gold King Widir has reappeared in the Gold Tunnel that now belongs to us Dark Elves. It's clear he cares more about gold than his life. Please go make sure he won't live to see another day."

Corrupt Fire Demons

Quest Giver	Queen Maya
Briefing	Queen Maya: "The Balrogs are corrupted fire demons that have lived underground since ancient times. When we first settled down in Underfoot, the Balrogs invaded our city incessantly until our brave heroes exterminated them. 'The king of the Balrogs has awakened,' said the cunning Dwarven king. I don't know why he would say that, but it won't hurt to check it out. Go to where the Dwarven king told you and check if the Balrogs really have awakened."

Broken Seal

Quest Giver	Queen Maya
Briefing	Queen Maya: "Vartarucis, the king of Balrogs, is an ancient and powerful demon. He was sealed within his stone tomb a long time ago. His stone tomb was built so deep under the ground that it was named the Heart of the Genesis. The Great Metastasis caused the Heart of the Genesis to rise above the ground, and the impact might have triggered the awakening of Vartarucis. The seal on his tomb, however, cannot be broken easily, so he won't be a problem as long as the seal is intact." Gold King Widir: "Hey, I know you got rid of all the Balrogs that threatened us Dwarves. Don't think the threat is gone, though. Those Guard Gargoyles in the depths of the tomb remain, and they'll attack your city if you don't take care of them first. So go get them before it's too late."

Upon Completion	Queen Maya: "Did you really kill all the guardian gargoyles in front of the tomb? Oh, no. That was a big mistake. Killing the guardian gargoyles releases Vartarucis from his confinement. Vartarucis has been freed by your hands, and that was what the Dwarven king wanted all along."

Heater Vartarucis

Quest Giver	Queen Maya
Briefing	Queen Maya: "Now you'll have to confront Vartarucis and put them back to sleep. Vartarucis's source of power is the fire orb embedded in his heart. If you can extract it and seal it with Dark Elven magic, Vartarucis will fall asleep again. Know that Vartarucis takes three different forms, depending on the type of Guard Gargoyles you hunt first, meaning you must collect his fire orbs from all three forms. Let's start with Heater Vartarucis. He'll appear if you defeat the Guard Gargoyle with a halberd before the others."

Heat Sword Vartarucis

Briefing	Queen Maya: "Your next target is Heat Sword Vartarucis. He'll appear if you defeat the Guard Gargoyle with a sword. Be careful, the Vartarucis is stronger than the one with a whip."

Heat Fist Vartarucis

Briefing	Queen Maya: "Now we have one last form of Vartarucis to take care of. Defeat the Guard Gargoyle with raked hands, and Heat Fist Vartarucis will appear. Never let your guard down before him. Heat Fist Vartarucis is his strongest form."

Upon Completion	Queen Maya: "With this fireball from Heat Fist Vartarucis, we've collected all the fireballs. Good. They will be sealed away with the magic of the Dark Elves.
