Does life in the Scholar District seem stifling?

It might seem that way to someone who lives a life of constant travel, like you, Adventurer.

But for me, I feel most at home here, where I can live by my own rules, rather than outside, where there are so many variables.

Riki-NFace1.png Scholar Riki

Clearmist has the best conditions for studying mist particulates: there's a good supply of mist,

which is the raw materials for our research, and a relatively stable ecology and security.

Riki-NFace1.png Scholar Riki

If you'd like to experiment with mist particulates, feel free to come to me.

I do, however, accept small honoraria for research grants.

Most of the people here are working on various studies of mist.

Wondering how many people are involved in mist particulate research? Unfortunately, I'm the only one here. At one point, we had a few people stay, but for some reason, they all left after a week.

Did I say something harsh? Well, I just gave some "heartfelt" advice.

Riki-NFace2.png Scholar Riki

Oh, I'm not from here, White Ocean;

I studied at a collective called Ivory Sentence in Gravity Falls, though I never finished.

If you're ever in Gravity Falls, you might want to take a look around to see what it's like,

but I wouldn't recommend it. They're a bunch of snobs who focus on results rather than theory.

Riki-NFace2.png Scholar Riki

This thing I always have in my hand is some kind of communication device.

To stay in touch with someone? No, I've never used it for that.

I use it as a substitute for a research journal because it has a lot of storage capacity. There are just too many variables for a book to permanently preserve my perfect theories.

You asked me the other day about traveling outside of the Scholar District. I've been thinking about it, and there's one place I'd love to visit:

The Mist Quilt Mountains, up north of White Ocean. I'd love to visit there if I ever get the chance. It's an amazing place with so much concentrated mist that you can feel it on your feet.

If I ever get the chance to go there...

...Never mind.

Riki-NFace3.png Scholar Riki

Adventurer, if you have a moment, I have something to show you.

Book-Face2.png Narration

Riki led the Adventurer to a microscope where mist particulates could be observed.

They could see the mist particulates coming together at regular intervals, almost touching, and then moving away.

Riki-NFace3.png Scholar Riki

What do you think? The mist appears to be irregularly scattered, but if you look closely enough, you can see that it moves away and toward each other with some regularity.

You may be wondering why I'm showing you this.

Well, there's no one else to show it to, and no one else I want to show it to, except you, the Adventurer.

Riki-NFace3.png Scholar Riki

Sometimes people point the finger at me for clinging to mist particulates that no one else is studying,

but I think even the most obscure discipline stops there if someone doesn't study it and care about it.

So, just as you keep finding me, I keep asking and finding the mist.

It's a nice gesture, so I'll take it.

Riki-NFace1.png Scholar Riki

If you don't need it, I'll keep it for you.

Riki-NFace1.png Scholar Riki

Will it help me with my research?

Intimate
Riki-NFace2.png Scholar Riki

I treasure the gifts you've given me. I'll cherish this one, too.

Riki-NFace2.png Scholar Riki

Thank you, as always. In return, I'll let you have a look at my paper, "A Study on the Wavelength of Mist Particulates," next time.

Riki-NFace2.png Scholar Riki

I'm not good with words, but... I'm always grateful.

This... It's truly a gift for me. Thank you, Adventurer.

I'll be sure to use it to observe mist particulates.
