Skill Row Troubles

Test1 Test2
- -

Running into some issues with the template. I was having issues earlier with Template:SkillTblLeft and Template:SkillTblRight but fixed them after a lot of testing :|. Blakdoxaduo (talk) 19:34, 28 March 2015 (PDT)

- I think that anything more than class=wikitable is probably unnecessary, and we should transition to be such. Everspace (talk) 19:47, 28 March 2015 (PDT)

Ok I'll just create div containers for the specific tables (skills with gender differences). I just figured it would be a lot easier to have the skills on one page. Blakdoxaduo (talk) 21:24, 28 March 2015 (PDT)

Template:AtSchool

I use the template. As for level of usefulness, low. It could be deleted. --Dfoplayer (talk) 00:20, 5 April 2015 (PDT)

I'm fine with a general usage "I'm not here" template. I've copied the current one to Template:UserAway --Everspace (talk) 00:50, 5 April 2015 (PDT)

Data Templates

Is it possible to have the template have an edit link that links directly to template? There is no edit link in Ink He'etako, except the top right, which edits the whole page, not Data Template. --Dfoplayer (talk) 08:50, 9 April 2015 (PDT)

I didn't personally make those, but I can add one similar to the SkillData ones I'm working on. --FMageIcon.png Everspace (talk) 12:27, 9 April 2015 (PDT)
I just attempted to convert another skill into data template. I tried to use the current icon file name, Hodor.gif but the template doesn't take it. Template:SkillData Hired Summon: Panzer Hodor. Also, is there a reason why you used html tag for skillgrowth instead of copy and paste old wikitable from skill page? --Dfoplayer (talk) 22:48, 11 April 2015 (PDT)
I fixed the file name problem. Still, I am curious why copy and paste old wikitable into skillgrowth does not work. --Dfoplayer (talk) 12:16, 12 April 2015 (PDT)
EDIT: I found another file name problem. Templates Icon Link and Skill Link. The problem is mainly the skill title does not have a the same skill name file, like File:NightHollow.gif is for Black Hole.--Dfoplayer (talk) 12:27, 12 April 2015 (PDT)
  • Skill data and WikiTables: I tried doing it with a regular table before, but it causes the data to get confused. It was also hellish to edit due to needing to use the {!} template. I was also reworking the previous Needle Throw table anyway (number changes among other things) so I thought I could do everything all at once.
  • Skill Icons: I also had tried allowing the SkillData to handle skill icons and linking them, but this caused a template loop which is bad. I think that we should move the icons instead to be the name of the skill that they are attached to. This is especially true for things like File:NenSpirit.png which is actually the icon for Overstrain, but you would never know from the name. And like items, I think skills should mirror each other.
--FMageIcon.png Everspace (talk) 18:37, 12 April 2015 (PDT)
I was able to fix the Template:FormatSkill Page and Template:FormatSkill Data ‎so that if the user specifies Icon= the template will use those. Otherwise, it will default to <name of skill>.png. --Dfoplayer (talk) 18:50, 12 April 2015 (PDT)
The intention was to remove those, if the icons are named wrong they should be corrected and not patched over. If they are not aligned they should be fixed. --FMageIcon.png Everspace (talk) 18:52, 12 April 2015 (PDT)

Using SkillTableHeader

Might be something wrong with using the wiki table class because the borders are gone. :| Shield Uppercut - Blakdoxaduo (talk) 22:41, 21 April 2015 (PDT)

Apparently, the template requires
 {| {{SkillTableHeader}}
and not
{|
|- {{SkillTableHeader}}
Because of this, Bgblue does not work when you have |- Bgblue, unless we change SkillTableHeader to include it. --Dfoplayer (talk) 22:49, 21 April 2015 (PDT)
Thanks! I was thinking I might have forgotten something. Been a little bit since I've been on here. - Blakdoxaduo (talk) 22:53, 21 April 2015 (PDT)
Please don't modify it unless it's absolutely crucial. I would like all the skill tables to be unified in appearance and controlled from a master CSS (or at least a template!), and this was to get rid of different appearances and people inlining everything. The {{MasterRow}} or whatever it is sill works like that though. If you expand the templates, it makes more sense as to why this happens. --FMageIcon.png Everspace (talk) 13:02, 22 April 2015 (PDT)
Yes. For consistency reasons, I attempted to add blue to the tableheader using a new css, bluetable. However, while it fixed the skills, other pages that required tableheader became all blue. I was thinking of making a new template, SkillTableHeader2 with border="0" cellpadding="2" cellspacing="1" style="background-color: #aaaaaa;" or class=bluetable. --Dfoplayer (talk) 13:07, 22 April 2015 (PDT)
I like the approach of class=skilltable more than anything. I don't understand why you want to set border, cell-padding or spacing, which are all very old, and no longer supported in HTML5. --FMageIcon.png Everspace (talk) 13:12, 22 April 2015 (PDT)

Wiki markup for tables

Is there a reason why we can not insert wiki tables into a template? I noticed it would not paste in your FormatSkill Page, and now I can't paste a table into the Template:tabs. [wqsedsa wants to create tabs for PvE and PvP skill growth. The template:tabs works, just can not paste a skill table. On IRC, btw.--Dfoplayer (talk) 21:52, 22 April 2015 (PDT)

Extensions

The admin added DPL. She also said all string functions are in ParserFunctions. However, DPL had those undefined properties at the top, so I'm not sure if you want to add DPL to other pages. I already asked her if she could look into this.--Dfoplayer (talk) 18:39, 23 April 2015 (PDT)

Coolio. I'm going to hold off until I see them gone, but I've started the prep work to auto generate the skill links (if you haven't noticed). I can wait! --FMageIcon.png Everspace (talk) 18:41, 23 April 2015 (PDT)
In the mean time, can you see if we can replace the ":" with "-" for those skill icons.png using parser? --Dfoplayer (talk) 18:52, 23 April 2015 (PDT)
{{#replace:Colon Summon: That guy|:|-}}, seems legit. I also found out you can just make a redirect like with File:Elemental Mastery: Light.png --FMageIcon.png Everspace (talk) 19:09, 23 April 2015 (PDT)
DPL should be fixed now.--Dfoplayer (talk) 10:20, 10 May 2015 (PDT)
So close! Just need that pipe replace extension now, then I'll start rolling it out --FMageIcon.png Everspace (talk) 21:35, 10 May 2015 (PDT)
What were you planning for pipe escape? admin said to check out This page and it seems like
<span style="display: none;">{{</span>
{| class="wikitable" style="width: 100%;"
//skill table
|}
<span style="display: none;">}}</span>
will escape the pipes in tabs for skill tables. However, on my user page, the skill table takes up the whole page. --Dfoplayer (talk) 22:12, 10 May 2015 (PDT)
Don't include the style="width:100%" part on the wikitable :P. I think this method is very hacky, I would preferably like the pipe escape extension: [1] instead. --FMageIcon.png Everspace (talk) 22:29, 10 May 2015 (PDT)
If you can provide a valid reason for the extension, then I'll tell the admin. Otherwise, see if you can use the <span> format. --Dfoplayer (talk) 15:52, 12 May 2015 (PDT)
If media wiki changes how they handle the parsing of "bad" templates, then we have to change all the pages. It seems like unintended behaviour that we're taking advantage of and that's just terrible things waiting to happen. What if those characters throw off something else? We're not getting rid of them, they're still there and it's not very apparent why when you go to edit. --FMageIcon.png Everspace (talk) 15:58, 12 May 2015 (PDT)
I don't think that's a valid reason, but if you need to dispute, head over on #mabinogi on IRC and message Kadalyn. In the mean time, I understand "side effects" but I am just going to use what we have to get the job done. If you want to html some things, that's fine with me. --Dfoplayer (talk) 22:08, 12 May 2015 (PDT)

Variables

I saw what you posted on on Wheel of Fate. I left it like that because the values are going to vary based on whatever weapon you have equipped. So no matter what the values are going to be different. I think it's easier to put out a heads up instead of having definite values in the table. Otherwise you'll have people constantly changing the values based on their current weapon. - Blakdoxaduo (talk) 00:27, 24 April 2015 (PDT)

Then we should include those values rather than have it be unspecified. Perhaps in another table. --FMageIcon.png Everspace (talk) 01:34, 24 April 2015 (PDT)

Flat Skill Values

Ah, yes. I wasn't sure if that had been phased out in a previous update (base attack affecting skill tooltips). I should just stick with percent-based skills, for the time being.

--Cdjblue (talk) 17:40, 25 April 2015 (PDT)

Regarding Male Brawler Icons

We already have icons for Male Brawler skills that are in good condition, you don't have to upload new ones. It seems like a needless effort --CitricCurrent (talk) 00:14, 11 May 2015 (PDT)

I thought the series were in .jpg format (some of the other classes were like that), my bad. I do however think the names that were used are no longer applicable, and would have to move them anyway. I will request the old ones to be deleted, and refrain from that in the future. --FMageIcon.png Everspace (talk) 00:18, 11 May 2015 (PDT)
I see, though I'd like to ask that you don't replace the level 60 and 70 skill icons for now. For some reason, only Male Fighters have their level 60 and 70 skill icons with ex still on them. It's possible that this may be something Neople overlooked--CitricCurrent (talk) 01:16, 11 May 2015 (PDT)
If they're changed, I can just upload a new version. It's not a big deal. They're probably not going to bother until the Male 2nd Awakening goes out --FMageIcon.png Everspace (talk) 01:29, 11 May 2015 (PDT)

Spoiler Table

If you don't mind I'm going to use that spoiler-like table you created. I've been trying to figure out how to add actual spoilers but I believe that requires Extension:Spoilers. The table you have seems workable so I'll figure out what to do with it somehow. - Blakdoxaduo (talk) 10:38, 17 May 2015 (PDT)

What spoilers are you talking about? The admin does not like to install unnecessary extensions so something close to spoilers is HiddenTextHeader and Footer:

--Dfoplayer (talk) 19:36, 17 May 2015 (PDT)

Alright, I can use this instead. Just didn't know if there was anything else like the spoiler tags. - Blakdoxaduo (talk) 19:55, 17 May 2015 (PDT)

SkillNav

Is the Template:SkillNav not including the page itself? On Hired Summon: Panzer Hodor, I do not see Hodor on the SkillNav. Also, are we removing general passive and general active from the SkillNav? --Dfoplayer (talk) 22:45, 18 May 2015 (PDT)

Seems like it. Probably just a config option I forgot and will add in.
I didn't think to include it for the base classes (this requires quite a bit of fandangling if it's the case), nor do I think we should as they're common to all classes. {{SkillNav|General}} should suffice on pages that warrant it. They aren't "Female Mage" skills, as much as Elemental Burn is not an Elementalist skill.
--FMageIcon.png Everspace (talk) 01:48, 19 May 2015 (PDT)

Skills that do not use Template:SkillPage

Whatever you or I did, the subclass page shows up in the DPL generator. For example Elementalist and Witch have their class Banner now. At least, for me, I see the banners.--Dfoplayer (talk) 09:49, 24 May 2015 (PDT)

This is because the Category:Female Mage Skills was added to that Mage/Skills page, and then not "noincluded". So when it transcribed in, it also added the category to each of the classes. The reason for that page (and the others like it) doesn't make much sense anymore because they can be dynamically generated with DPL instead. --FMageIcon.png Everspace (talk) 09:53, 24 May 2015 (PDT)
Now I understand. Makes sense. Lots of moving to do. --Dfoplayer (talk) 09:56, 24 May 2015 (PDT)

About Absolute Damage

Yea, I'm still confused on the whole Absolute Damage and how to use the templates. Arrol (talk)

Absolute damage is the new in-game name for Fixed Damage. What happens is you look at the tooltip that is shown for the skill, putting that number in the |Tooltip=#### part. Then you look at your My Status screen, and put in the Independent Attack number from there in the |IndependantAttack=####}} part. --FMageIcon.png Everspace (talk) 22:24, 24 May 2015 (PDT)

And I do this without a weapon or sub weapon on? Arrol (talk) 21:08, 25 May 2015 (PDT)

You just have to put in the numbers, and the template does the math for you. It doesn't matter what you have on, as long as the numbers are there. --FMageIcon.png Everspace (talk) 23:11, 25 May 2015 (PDT)

EX skills and type 2

How does one add more than one type 2 to a skill? Mostly wondering this for ex skill since they are also only available after awakening.--Lokd (talk) 19:23, 24 May 2015 (PDT)

EX skills are no longer a "thing", so should be of type Awakening, since they require the Awakening to learn. --FMageIcon.png Everspace (talk) 22:25, 24 May 2015 (PDT)
OK. I got confused because the template page for skill page mentions EX as one of the options for type 2. Then what about for say deadly blood for fbrawlers or arsenal reinforcement for fspitfires. Those are both toggleable as well as being an awakening passive.--Lokd (talk) 23:38, 24 May 2015 (PDT)
Arrrg. I knew this would happen. I would just use awakening for now, and Toggleable can be something else I implement down the road. --FMageIcon.png Everspace (talk) 00:00, 25 May 2015 (PDT)

the status page?

I didn't understand what you meant when you edited the Status Effect page. Could you clarify? - User:Blakdoxaduo 20:37, 25 May 2015 (PDT)

I turned the status effects into headers with the ==Syntax==. Now I can link to them like so: Status Effect#Super Armor. When they were in the table, you couldn't link directly to them. --FMageIcon.png Everspace (talk) 23:15, 25 May 2015 (PDT)

Skill page and TP skills

The skill page template is not correctly categorizing tp skills as the specific class' tp skills. This causes the navmenu from skill page template to display no TP skills even if TP is entered for type 2. See the berserker TP skills. We have to specify in type 2 which class the TP belongs to eg. Berserker TP. Are you going to modify anything to fix this or should I go ahead and add that to all the berserker tp skills?--Lokd (talk) 14:12, 26 May 2015 (PDT)

I think I fixed it. I am majoring in Computer Science, so I don't know much about real world efficiency yet, but right now, it looks like the issue is fixed. Try Blood Sword Upgrade. --Dfoplayer (talk) 17:33, 26 May 2015 (PDT)

Awakening Skills- How the hell do you find the values now?

So it's come to my realization that since Awakening actives are automatically leveled, that unless you make your subclass again, you can't really find out their damage values. What do we do? --GaRgAnt (talk) 22:24, 26 May 2015 (PDT)
