Lore

Prey-Isys Raid Lore:
Kugai wasn't born a warrior.

He was so small and weak that he had a hard time even flying.

But he never gave up trying to fly high in the sky, and eventually his efforts paid off.

He became as strong a warrior as he'd always wanted. He was able to fly high in the sky, just like other great warriors.

But everything changed on the day he flew into the sky for Prey, who vanished after the emergence of the black fragments.

Instead of reaching the top of the sky like he wanted, he crashed onto the ground, and he was devastated.

There were many obstacles in his life, but he'd never felt so disappointed before.

Helpless.

Anger boiled up inside him, and then exploded out of him like heat.

He then disappeared.

When he reappeared, a long time had passed and he was no longer the strong, proud warrior who once stood shoulder to shoulder with other great warriors.

Now he was a ruthless fighter obsessed with a mysterious red energy that had made him crave power and live only to fight.

Move Set

You won't get past me!

  • Sword Tornado: Kugai creates a small tornado with his sword, showing an indicator line in front of him.
  • Twister Attack: Kugai does a spinning attack at those who are in close range.
  • Dash: Kugai does a basic quick dash attack.
  • Vacuum Slash: Kugai does a close range slash attack with one of his swords.
  • Jumping Stab: Kugai attempts to dive at a player's position and performs a downward stab.
  • Berserk
    • Counterstrike Stance!: Come at me! Kugai's body will start to turn red and gets himself into a defense stance where he taunts the player into attacking him along with a HP bar. There is also a timer gauge bar below to see how long he'll remain in that stance until it fills up. Upon refraining from breaking his counter-attack, Kugai goes into his groggy state for 10 seconds. However, if his counter-attack's HP bar is depleted, Kugai perform one of two berserk attacks:
    • Red Sword Tornado: I've been waiting for this! He launches out a much powerful and larger version of Sword Tornado.
    • Lightning Twister: A variation of Twister Attack where he chases down a player and has red lightning bolts randomly strike down .

Strategy

  • Out of the Slenikon Defense/Intercept Trio, Kugai is perhaps the least difficult boss to deal with due to his easily telegraphed attack patterns.
  • For Counterstrike Stance!
    • Breaking it isn't really necessary, but it does offer a strategic plan to speed up the fight's progress if you're running out of time during Raids.
    • Try not to use skills that inflict lingering-specific damage when he prepares his stance.
    • Both of his berserk patterns can be easily avoided to prevent casualties.
  • The Crusader/Enchantress can just deploy Apocalypse (Male Crusader).png Apocalypse/Crux of Victoria.png Crux of Victoria/Marionette (Enchantress).png Marionette and have your party use their strongest skills on Kugai when he lands on Slenikon's back.
