Dungeons are areas in which you attempt to find the boss room and defeat the monsters you encounter on the way. Every new dungeon room that you enter reduces 1 fatigue point. If you enter with a party, EXP will be multiplied at the end and then split amongst all members.

Defeating the boss in the boss room will automatically finish the dungeon, all other enemies will count as defeated and give exp.

Dungeon Difficulty Settings

Only the normal difficulty level is initially unlocked when you gain access to a new dungeon. You must first meet certain requirements in order to unlock higher difficulty levels.

Normal Difficulty.png Normal Normal is the initial difficulty for all dungeons. To gain initial access to a dungeon you must reach the minimum level required, clear a prior dungeon, or accept a certain epic quest.
Expert Difficulty.png Expert Expert is the second available difficulty and can be unlocked simply by clearing the normal difficulty with any rank. Enemies gain a small boost in hit rate and HP while you have a small drop in hit rate. Monsters with special effects will appear more frequently.
Master Difficulty.png Master Master is the third available difficulty and can be unlocked once you clear the dungeon's Expert mode with a B rank or higher. Enemies have a moderate boost in hit rate and health while you have a moderate drop in hit rate. Monsters with special effects will appear more frequently than on Expert.
King Difficulty.png King Expert is the fourth and presently highest difficulty for the NA version of DnF and is unlocked by clearing the dungeon's Master mode with a S rank or higher. Enemies have a large boost in hit rate and HP while you have a high drop in hit rate. Monsters with special effects will appear in nearly every room and sometimes even in groups.
- Hell Currently unavailable for the NA version.

Rewards

  • After the boss is defeated two rows of reward cards that might contain gold and/or equipment will appear. The number of bosses and mini-bosses that were defeated are added up and increase the chance of receiving rare items along with the gold.
    • the player will have three seconds in which to choose one card from each of the two rows (a total of two cards, one regular, one gold).
      • the player can choose to only turn over one normal card or both the normal and gold cards.
    • There is one card in each row that contains nothing regardless of how many enemies are defeated.
      • The first row's cards are free. The second row requires a gold amount that varies depending on the dungeon and is listed on the card.
    • There is a possibility of obtaining rare equipment from the cards that are unavailable elsewhere.
      • See the Dungeon Drop Guide for information about dungeon locations that might drop items in the level range you are interested in.

Ranks

Your rank is calculated at the end of a dungeon by adding your Style and Technique points and subtracting your Hits. The higher your total the better your rank.

Style

This score indicates how well you are able to chain attacks. The Style score increases when you successfully execute Combo Attacks, Aerial Attacks, and Dual Attacks. There are 70 total Style points.

  • Combo - (30 pts) Gained when you connect five or more attacks on an enemy in a short period of time.
  • Aerial - (30 pts) Gained when you hit an enemy while they are airborne.
  • Dual - (10 pts) This occurs when two or more players strike an enemy simultaneously. Triple and quadruple are for three or four players hitting an enemy at once.
    • Pro Tip - To gain a high amount of Style points you should go into a dungeon with multiple players, group enemies up, use a skill to launch them into the air and then chain regular strikes and launching skills together.

Technique

This score indicates the technical skill you use in combat. The Technique score increases when you successfully execute Overkills, Counter Attacks, and Back Attacks. There are 70 total Technique points.

  • Overkill - (30 pts) Gained when your death blow on a foe is more than 30% of his/her current HP.
  • Counter -(30 pts) Gained when you attack an opponent in the middle of his/her attack. This will count even if they have super armor active.
  • Back Attack -(10 pts) Gained when you attack an opponent from behind.

Hits

Every time an enemy successfully strikes you it counts as a Hit. The lower your Hits at the end of a dungeon the higher your rank will be. If you die in a dungeon and revive yourself with a Life Token your Style and Technique scores will remain the same but your Hits score will reset to zero. If you revive yourself during party play your personal hit count will be removed from the party’s total. For example, if you were hit seven times before dying, and party hit total is 50, upon revival the seven hits you took will be removed and drop the party’s total to 43.

  • Pro Tip - If you find yourself having trouble unlocking a higher dungeon difficulty with a rank prerequisite or have issues completing a quest that involves attaining a rank you can rig the score by bringing a boss's health to a sliver and then let him kill you so that you revive with a reset hit count and kill the boss with the revive aura blast.
