Upside-down City Mirage.png

The 'mirage of an upside-down city' is a rare phenomenon that occurs occasionally in night sky of Empyrean. It is regarded as a myth originated from over a thousand years prior to the events in-game. Although it may look like a strange arrangement of stars from afar, in actuality, they are the lights of illuminated buildings from the upside-down city of Pandemonium.

History

Around 100 B.A.C. (100 years before the establishment of the Arad Calendar), rumors began circulating about an upside-down city that could be rarely seen in the night sky over Empyrean. They called this phenomenon the 'mirage of an upside-down city'.

"Have you ever seen the mirage of an upside-down city before?"

The shadow suddenly spoke.

"...?"

"A long time ago, a splendid technological civilization bloomed on a planet known as Terra. But, after a certain incident, the planet Terra blew up in a massive explosion, and a piece containing one its cities survived, floating in space for a long time. That piece of Terra drifted through various different dimensional spaces, collecting various forms of alien creatures along the way. Their infighting caused the whole city to be thrown into chaos; eventually, it came to be known as Pandemonium. And that very city has been attached to the planet of Arad for a few hundred years now, upside down."

~~Excerpt from Episode 20: Bakal, the King of Dragons - Chapter 8: The Seven Meisters

Unbeknownst to the Empyreans, this strange arrangement of stars seen from afar was actuality the lights of illuminated buildings from the upside-down city of Pandemonium. This strange occurrence happened only the rare occasions when the being, Constructor Luke, was able to provide electricity to the Metro Center given two necessary requirements: the Apostle Anton needs to be asleep and Luke needed to have spare time. It was during these rare occasions, that Bakal witnessed and recorded Luke’s prophecies detailing the Destruction of the Apostles.

However, due to the transference of Anton to Empyrean in Arad Year 996, the phenomenon has become more frequent.
