Not Enough Fuel

Level 85
Quest Giver Melvin Richter
Briefing Melvin Richter: "When my sister told me about the Castle of the Dead, I didn't believe her. But you've actually found it! Good job! The island created after Anton's death was called... Hm, what's it called? Oh, yes, Zelva! I'm guessing it's the name of a mythical giant. Anyway, now I'm in charge of building something that will connect Zelva to the Castle, but as you know, we don't have enough things to rebuild Ghent with, let alone create something from scratch. I can build it with what I've got from Her Highness, but I need fuel. Could you bring some fueling materials?"
Objectives Bring the following materials to Melvin.
Upon Completion Melvin Richter: "That's enough to fuel what I'm going to make. I'll start working. you can go to the Slaugh Industrial Complex now. The people at that place will help you with your travel."

A Joint Investigation Group

Level 85
Quest Giver Nevillo Jurgen
Briefing Nevillo Jurgen: "I didn't have time to thank you properly when we were in Noblesky. I'm glad we meet again. I was sent here to represent Empyrean for the joint investigation group. You worked so hard to defeat Anton. I thought you'd rest until this place is stabilized. You didn't want to wait too long, did you?"

<Player>: "No, I didn't. By the way, what do you mean by the joint investigation group?"

Nevillo Jurgen: "It's a group sent to investigate the Castle of the Dead, of course. Empyrean and the Empire have decided to work together again to eliminate the rest of the Apostles. They pose a great threat to the Underworld too, yes? Together, Empyrean and the Empire can overcome any difficulty."

<Player>: "Does that mean Vaughn represents the Empire?"

Vaughn Walshuted: "Oh, no. I'm flattered that you think so highly of me, but I'm only a knight master. My boss is over there. Why don't you go see her? She's been wanting to meet you."
Objectives Meet Imperial Princess Isabella representing the Empire for the joint investigation group.
  • Meet Isabella: 0/1
Upon Completion Isabella: "Ho ho. You're the adventurer Knight Master Vaughn told me about. You look just like other commoners I've seen. I'm Isabella Catherine Heinrich De Los, the Third Princess of the De Los Empire. I can see you're honored to meet me, but don't be too shy. Co-mingling with commoners is an important experience for me."

Safety First

Level 85
Quest Giver Isabella
Dungeon Inverted Watchtower
Briefing Isabella: "By the way, a group of Empyrean engineers showed up a while ago and built some machine. They said their princess prepared it for you. To me it just looked like strange-looking junk, but Sir Jurgen said it was the essence of Empyrean's mechanical engineering. Still I can't trust that thing. Go test it for me, will you?"

<Player>: "Why should--"

Isabella: "Why? Because commoners exist to perform such dangerous tasks. Plus, you're adventurous and you want to enter the Castle of the Dead as much as we do. You need to check the machine for yourself, don't you? Come on, don't be shy and go satisfy your burning curiosity. If you fall and die, I'll find your next of kin and compensate him for your death properly."

<Player>: "Hah, hah..."

Vaughn Walshuted: "Sorry. Her Highness doesn't have a malicious bone in her body. She really thinks she's doing you a favor."
Objectives Ride the vertical lift connected to the Inverted Watchtower dungeon. Enter the Castle of the Dead and check the interior.
Dungeon Dialogue Upon entering Room C2:

<Player>: "Finally, I'm here. The evil energy permeating this castle is stronger than it felt from Zelva."
Upon Completion Isabella: "It took you safely to the castle. That's great! Now we're ready to embark on an adventure! It seems the Empyreans are really good at making interesting things, though their crude designs offend my sensibilities."

Cyrus: "Your Highness, you're too excited. If you get hurt, Sir Jurgen will be in trouble. You need to calm down."

A Fox from Pandemonium

Level 85
Quest Giver Isabella
Briefing Isabella: "Don't worry. Father said I'll only have myself to blame for any injury I get. I assure you there won't be another gardener who would be locked up because he let me be pricked by a thorn."

Vaughn Walshuted: "Did that really happen?"

Cyrus: "His Majesty was only trying to show Her Highness what happens to others around her if she doesn't behave. Your Highness, this place is filled with all sorts of people. You have to be careful as to whom you keep close to yourself."

<Player>: "..."

Isabella: "Don't do that. You're only scaring the adventurer. Cyrus worries about me so much that she doesn't want me to meet new people. Oh, right! Adventurer, you can be my agent! I saw a very cute animal a while ago. Could you get its name? It was this tall and wearing human clothes. You won't miss it."

If Player is F. Slayer:

<Player>: "(Why doesn't the Hound say anything to me? This is not a good time to capture the princess. I shouldn't make a rash move.)"
Objectives Meet Hunter Von in the Adventurer's Guild tent.

Adventurer's Guild

Level 85
Quest Giver Hunter Von
Dungeon Inverted Watchtower
Briefing Hunter Von: "Please don't look at me like I'm a freak. There are many different races of Beastkin in Pandemonium. All the people in Arad and Empyrean look the same, and I stick out like a sore thumb."

Meryl: "What's this commotion? Who's this knucklehead making so much noise in a place like this?"

Hunter Von: "Oops! I'm sorry to disturb you, Meryl. This new adventurer was surprised to see me, and..."

Meryl: "Would you blame him/her? In any other place, you would've been mistaken as a monster. *Chuckle*"

If Player is from Pandemonium:

Hunter Von: "Oh, you're also from Pandemonium. It's nice to see someone who's from the same place as I am. All the people in Arad and Empyrean look the same, and I stick out like a sore thumb."

Meryl: "What's this commotion? Who's this knucklehead making so much noise in a place like this?"

Hunter Von: "Oops! I'm sorry to disturb you, Meryl. This new adventurer is also from Pandemonium, so I got excited."

Meryl: "Ah, another one from Pandemonium. It's like a Pandemonium rally. *Chuckle*"

<Player>: "Meryl? Naen of the Seven Shards..."

Meryl: "Huh? Oh, you must be the adventurer who defeated Anton and attributed to the creation of this volcanic island. Wasn't it difficult to pander to that whiny girl? You don't have to tell me why you're here. Have you tried the vertical lift that goes up to the Castle of the Dead? I expect better from Melvin than that junk, but then again maybe it's the best he can do, given the situation in Ghent. Enough chitchat, and you should close your mouth. It's time you go up to the Castle of the Dead. Her Highness specifically ordered that you be the first one to use the lift. Everyone else is waiting for you."
Objectives Explore Inverted Watchtower.
  • Explore Inverted Watchtower.: 0/1
Upon Completion Meryl: "Machines that are not Empyrean are in operation. That's strange. I've heard Pandemonium lacks mastery of mechanical engineering. How come there are machines equipped with artificial intelligence on the way to Pandemonium?"

Hunter Von: "It's because of Apostle Luke in the Castle of the Dead. He's a genius who rebuilt the Metro Center. He's as good an inventor as the Seven Shards of Empyrean, if not better. *Ahem*"

Apostle Luke in the Castle of the Dead

Level 85
Quest Giver Hunter Von
Dungeon Inverted Watchtower
Briefing If player isn't from Pandemonium:

Hunter Von: "The Castle of the Dead is more of a myth, even to us people of Pandemonium. It's always hidden, and I don't think even Hilder knows where it is. As far as I know, Luke is staying in the castle. He's dedicated to his research and the peace of Pandemonium. He's the one who brought light back to pandemonium."

<Player>: "He doesn't torture...or kill others?"

Hunter Von: "Oh, no. He's not like that. There are some scary Apostles, but Luke is like Hilder, working to make Pandemonium a better place. If you meet him, you'll know he's good."

<Player>: (A good Apostle... If that's true, I don't want to fight him. I'd rather ask for his help.) "I want to meet him before I go to Pandemonium through the Castle of the Dead. How can I do that?"

If player is from Pandemonium:

Hunter Von: "The Castle of the Dead is more of a myth, even to us people of Pandemonium. It's always hidden, and I don't think even Hilder knows where it is. Rumor has it Luke is staying in the castle. Luke is dedicated to his research and the peace of Pandemonium, and he also brought light back to Pandemonium, but you already know that, righ?"

<Player>: "Of course. Luke is admired by all of Pandemonium, like Hilder."

Hunter Von: "That's right."

<Player>: (I thought Hilder was a good Apostle. What if Luke is just like her? ...No, I shouldn't think that. Hilder has gone to the extreme, true, but it's only because she wanted the best for Pandemonium. Luke has to be a good Apostle. And if Hilder really has gone astray, I need Luke's help to stop her.) "I'd like to meet him before I return to Pandemonium. Do you know where he is?"

Hunter Von: "*Whine* I'm sorry, but I don't know. He must be somewhere in there, though...if he's not outside."

<Player>: "I see. I feel like I'm invading his house, but there's no other way to go to Pandemonium. I'll apologize to Luke in person." (I'm sensing the energy of the Black Nightmare from inside the castle. I don't think Luke can be affected by something that the Apostles like him created, but I still need to check.)

Meryl: "Are you guys done talking? If you go back up there, get the components you saw. I want to check their craftmanship."
Objectives Collect strange-looking components in Inverted Watchtower.
Upon Completion Meryl: "I see. Its structure is different from any machine made in Empyrean. Whoever made it has a system of his own."

Homunculus Becky

Level 85
Quest Giver Dana Donatel
Dungeon Inverted Watchtower
Briefing Dana Donatal: "Meryl, strange signals have been received from the Castle of the Dead. I think they're trying to tell us something."

Meryl: "What? Show me. Hm... This unusual pattern shows the signals are not electric but magical. Let's see... ...It took me some time to decrypt the new type of patten, but here goes. 'I'm Homunculus Becky. Do not interrupt Luke. Come again, and I'll shoot you out of the universe.' What a cute threat! *Chuckle* This one named Becky must be the keeper of the castle. Her message proves that Luke really is in the castle."

<Player>: "That's good. I'm going to meet this Becky person and explain our situation."

Meryl: "Knock yourself out. But she sicced security robots on you with intent to kill. I don't think she'll listen to you."
Objectives Look for Becky in Inverted Watchtower. If she interrupts you, then subdue her.
Dungeon Dialogue Upon encountering Becky:

Becky: "Adventurer from the outside world. You know Luke is here, and you still came."

<Player>: "I want to meet him. I also have to get to Pandemonium. Let me pass."

Becky: "Over my dead body! Luke is busy! I won't let you disturb him! *Beep* Everyone, wake up! Teach that adventurer a lesson and send him flying!"
Upon Completion Becky: "A-are you going to kill me? Are you going to send me back to Elting Memorial?"

<Player>: "No. I just wanted to talk, and you attacked me first."

Becky: "*Snort* You're intruding Luke's laboratory! I have to hurl you out of the castle!"

<Player>: "You're very loyal to your master. But do you even know where he is? You don't, do you? He wouldn't tell some weak homunculus where he is. He's probably moving from place to place because he can't trust you."

Becky: "NO! Luke trusts me! He's in his secret laboratory in the basement!"

<Player>: "Are you sure? You're not dreaming? All right, if you say so. I'll go talk to him for you. You want to know if he trusts you, don't you?"

Becky: "*Snort* Luke really is in there! But you can't get in. His defense system will catch you and SNAP! You'll be dead."

<Player>: "Are you worried about me? How sweet! But don't worry. I've gone on enough adventurers to know what I'm doing."

Becky: "A-adventures? Wow.. I'd love to go out--no, I've never wanted to go outside. I swear!"

A Pool of Light

Level 85
Quest Giver Azalea Lott
Dungeon Luke Rinje
Briefing Azalea: "We Grim Seekers study the Apostles for the peace of Ara. We've been watching you long before you left Arad. Adventurer, you can tell us what you can't tell others. You're sensing the energy of the Black Nightmare more strongly now that the Castle of the Dead is in sight. Am i wrong?"

<Player>: "How did you know? I didn't want to cause any panic, so I was going to keep it to myself for a while."

Azalea: "We've been investigating a connection between the Black Nightmare and the Apostles, perhaps not as long as you have, but long enough to know the corrupt energy leaking from this place is of the Black Nightmare."

<Player>: "Is the Black Nightmare leaking out from the Castle of the Dead?"

Azalea: "It's yet to be known if the Black Nightmare is leaking from the castle of from a dimensional barrier that was cracked upon Anton's death. It'll be better if you and us can investigate it together. What to do you say? As far as we know, there's something on the top of the watchtower that attracts light. Roy thinks it's suspicious. Could you go check it?"
Objectives Explore Luke Rinje.
  • Explore Luke Rinje: 0/1
Upon Completion Azalea: "It's a lab filled with giant speculums? Apostle Luke must have been gathering light from Empyrean." Roy: "Well, well. This kid has told you what you need to know. Can't you come up with a better conclusion?"

Optics Research Center

Level 85
Quest Giver Roy Hartwig
Dungeon Luke Rinje
Briefing Roy: "Tsk, tsk. He's not using that place just to gather light--he's using ti to reflect and deflect light so as to keep the Castle of the Dead hidden, as the kid said, even from Pandemonium."

Erica: "Stop calling me kid!"

Roy: "I'm calling a kid, a kid. What is wrong with that? Tsk, tsk. This is why I don't like kids: they cannot be reasoned with."

Azalea: "Roy, so you think that place is gathering light simply to hide the Castle of the Dead?"

Roy: "No, I didn't say that. Those speculums are overkill for such a simple purpose. Adventurer, I want you to go find out why Luke is gathering light."

Erica: "Isn't it quicker if you check it yourself, Roy?"

Roy: "...! *Sweat* Hah hah, kids these days. Listen, I'm a researcher, not a fighter. I'm not foolish enough to set foot in a place full of monsters, and, unlike you, I don't pick a fight with someone much older and more experienced than I am."
Objectives Collect Shining Machine Parts from monster in Luke Rinje.

Light Neutralizer

Level 85
Quest Giver Roy Hartwig
Dungeon Luke Rinje
Briefing Roy: "Here are the analysis results. The machines in that place are intolerant to light. They shouldn't have been able to withstand the light collected through the speculums, if it weren't for this special substance. Look at this. It's making everything around it invisible by sbsorbing light instead of reflecting it. Considering how far away this substance is from the Castle of the Dead, it retains a considerably broad light-absorbing range. Something like this doesn't exist in Empyrean or Arad."

Azalea: "That means it's created by Apostle Luke, to keep his creatures moving in light."

Roy: "There's a rpoblem, though. This dark substance cannot move machines by itself. The fact that the machine parts that the adventurer brought started corroding as soon as they left the castle proves that. There must be something inside the lab that neutralizes the critical effects of light."

<Player>: "I saw dark giants wearing a speculum on their stomachs. They seemed like the keepers of the optics research center."

Roy: "Oh, yeah? Then bring their speculums. I want to examine their structure. What are you waiting for? Time is of the essence. That place already has gathered enough light to reflect the inside of the castle to the outside. If it gathers any more energy, then it'll blow up Zelva with everything int it. Go get rid of the giants and shut down the lab. Got it?"
Objectives Eliminate Argoses in Luke Rinje and collect Small Speculums.
Dungeon Dialogue Upon encountering Giant Argos:

Giant Argos: "We need more light... Activate Luke Rinje... to gather more light..."
Upon Completion Roy: "Good job shutting down the lab. Now, where's my speculum?"

<Player>: "Scientists...here."

Roy: *Snort* "Did you really have to make me ask? ...Hm...Ah...A-ha! This is how it works. This thing moves this way to release the neutralizing agent inside the giant's bodies as they move around the lab. Azalea would probably say this is a machine that spreads some dark energy that absorbs light for Luke's other creations. What a shame! I should've gone there. I could've shut down the lab safely before it gathered so much light energy. You adventurers are so barbaric that you don't appreciate the beauty of machines. You're only good at breaking things. Look at this circuit on the back of the speculum. How can you not appreciate its precise design? And look at this too! You may not understand but this...@#$%@#*&$%..."

Preacher of Love

Level 85
Quest Giver Roy Hartwig
Briefing Roy: *Ahem* "By the way, have you been to the adventurer's Guild? You have? Then um, did you see the beautiful lady with soft, shiny hair--"

Erica: "Wow, Roy. Haven't you given up yet?"

Roy: "Shut it! Gosh, you kids!" *Ahem* "I'll appreciate if you can find out what she likes. This is very, very important to me, so don't fail. And don't tell her I sent you. Got it?"
Objectives Ask Dana Donatel what she likes.
  • Meet Dana Donatel: 0/1
Upon Completion Dana Donatel: "Huh? What do I like? You mean aside from adventures and revenge, right? Well, I'll have to think... The only thing I can think of is the model of Apostle Luke in the Castle of the Dead. My fellow guildsmen saw it, but I haven't."

Luke's Model

Level 85
Quest Giver Roy Hartwig
Dungeon Metal Brakium
Briefing Roy: "A model of Apostle? What in the world are you up to? For me, just thinking of any apostle like Anton gives me a nausea... But you, well. You have been yourself all along. Very well. Let's make that model of some sort!"

Erica: "Mr. Roy? Do you know Luke's appearance?"

Roy: "No! You should know better than I am. I thought you are from Pandemonium."

Erica: "I am, but never seen him in person. In fact, I'm pretty sure that nobody in Pandemonium have witnessed his appearance. All I know is that Luke is an old man..."

Roy: "Is that so? Well then. Adventurer!"

<player>: "...I knew it was coming."

Roy: "Shut up already. You owe me one right? Guess what would happen if I didn't tell you to stop that machine. There's a robot with delicately made head part. Bring me some pieces of it."
Objectives Collect Apostle Luke's Model Parts from Metal Brakium.

Messenger of Love

Level 85
Quest Giver Roy Hartwig
Briefing Roy: "There you go. I've created the Apostle's model by referencing the parts you brought. Each of its joints moves 360 degrees, and it can run with at least five adult men on its back. That's not all. Press this button, and it brews hot tea. Press this button, and it blows cool air. Hah hah! And this! This is a very important feature..."

<Player>: (He babbles on about dozens of features of the tiny robot.)

Roy: "Whew. It was good I wrote down the summary of its features, or it would've taken longer to explain them to you. Now, I'm going to give you the detailed instructions for using each menu, so listen carefully because you'll have to teach her."

<Player>: "B-but! But wouldn't it be better if you let her learn them on her own? If there's a problem, she'll have to come to you."

Roy: "Ooh, that's the best idea you've ever come up with. All right, bring it to her now. I can't wait to hear her opinion on it!"
Objectives Deliver Roy's Luke model to Dana.
  • Meet Dana Donatel: 0/1
Upon Completion Dana Donatel: "Oh, is this the model of Apostle Luke? I didn't think you'd get it for me. Thank you. Only we adventurers can understand each other."

<Player>: (She examines the robot, and then nods her head as if to confirm she has memorized Luke's face. She places the robot on a rock, and then shoots a bolt at the robot from a distance. The robot is destroyed without being turned on even once, and now it's just a pile of garbage. I didn't even have a chance to tell her the robot was a gift from Roy.)

Dana Donatel: "All Apostles disrupt our world in one way or another, and I hate them for it. If I find Luke, I'll do everything in my power to destroy him."

<Player>: "Oh...That's very commendable of you." (I'd better not tell Roy what happened to his robot.)

Only the Brave Can Conquer Love

Level 85
Quest Giver Dana Donatel
Briefing Dana Donatel: "As an adeventurer, I've traveled to many different places and been through a lot. I came up to Empyrean as soon as the path opened up--thanks to you--and have continued with my journey and with my training. I'm not as experienced as you are, but even I can tell something is off about this place. What does Luke want? His hideout is exposed and overrun with strangers, but he hasn't shown up. The only response we've gotten is the growing strength of the castle's defense system. And what about his models? Why would he make these likenesses of himself? Are they part of some kind of defense system? If he wants to be left alone, he could've showed up to curious adventurers like us and threatened us to stay away. Von says Luke is a good Apostle, but is he? But he's the owner of a castle permeating such evil energy."

<Player>: (She's right. The higher I go in the castle, the stronger the energy that reminds me of the Black Nightmare. I fell like I don't have much time left. ...But what should I tell Roy? I really need to get going.)
Objectives Tell Roy that his gift has been delivered (at least).
  • Meet Roy: 0/1
Upon Completion Roy: "Has it? All right! Hee hee! Meryl Pioneer has finally accepted my gift!"

<Player>: "Wh-what? Meryl Pioneer?!"

Roy: "Yeah, who else has such beautiful tresses, or such a tirelessly inquisitive mind, or such timeless beauty? I've researched myriad subjects, but I haven't discovered a formula that can persuade minds. Meryl Pioneer is my goddess, the only reason that keeps me on this abominable volcanic island. All right, now I'm ready to speak to her in person. I thought she was ignoring me, but I was wrong--she was just being shy! Mm... Why are my hands shaking? Eek, but I'm going anyway! Roy: "I'm only a year younger than Meryl! Argh! Why can't you believe me? You're just a worthless adventurer!"

Erica: "Calm down, mister. Who can believe you're so old? Plus, you should've told the adventurer her name. Sometimes you're dumber than rocks. Sigh, this isn't good. That guy can hold a grudge like no other, and as things stand, he's never going to help you. I bet he's scribbling on his notebook all the bad things about you that he can think of."

Strongest Defense System

Level 85
Quest Giver Roy Hartwig
Dungeon Metal Brakium
Briefing Roy: "What's this? A defense code made by Luke? Do you think this can make me forget what you've done? Tsk, tsk. You adventurers..."

<Player>: (Not looking as upset as he sounds, Roy starts analyzing the code I brought.)

Roy: "Its design is cumbersome. It doesn't need this in here. Hm... This... Err?"

Azalea: "Roy. What's wrong? You look pale."

Roy: "Because I've just found out this idiot went somewhere he shouldn't! Is that where you also found Luke's models? This code shows that you entered the central control room, armed with Luke's most elaborate defense system! Now that the control room is breached, the main defense system for the building will be activated! This is bad. I don't have the ability to stop the system. Somewhere inside the castle, the anti-intrusion weapons must have been activated. It's too late to deactivate the alarm now. For now, you'll have to get rid of the guard at the central control room. He's sending signals to the weapons, so maybe destroying him can make the weapons stop moving."
Objectives Destroy Metal Gear that guards Metal Brakium.

Salamander's Furnace

Level 85
Quest Giver Erica
Briefing Erica: "Iron Aim is a giant steel dragon rumored to live in the Salamander's Furnace. I can't believe it really exists! Not many people of Pandemonium know where Luke is or what he makes, but everyone knows about the Salamander's Furnace, the lair of the giant dragon that keeps Luke's castle. *Shudder* Any topics related to dragons are considered taboo in Pandemonium. Everyone hates them because of the tyrant dragon Bakal. But why would Luke...? No, it doesn't matter. I'm more worried about the dragon. If it awakens, we'll be in big trouble. It's created by Luke, which means he could be as strong as Bakal..." Nevillo Jurgen: "Sorry to interrupt, but I couldn't just pass by and pretend not to hear you. Did you say Bakal?"
Objectives Go to Nevillo Jurgen and continue with the conversation.
  • Meet Nevillo Jurgen: 0/1
Upon Completion Nevillo Jurgen: "Apostle Bakal is also hated by everyone in Empyrean. Are you saying a likeness of Bakal was created by Luke in the Castle of the Dead?"

Erica: "I wouldn't say it's his likeness, but... I don't know. I haven't seen it. But if the defense system is activated and awakens the dragon, it could come out of the castle and attack everyone in its way."

Nevillo Jurgen: "I can't let that happen. An Imperial princess is here. I can't let anything bad happen to the princess of my ally."

Hound Cyrus

Level 85
Quest Giver Cyrus
Dungeon Salamander's Furnace
Briefing Cyrus: "I don't like what I just heard. Is my princess in danger?"

Nevillo Jurgen: "Ah, don't worry. I'll mobilize all of the Empyrean Royal Army, if I have to, to protect Her Highness."

Cyrus: "You should. Your country is only as safe as she. You'd better make sure there is no potential threat."

<Player>: "Then she should leave. This place is not safe. The defense system of the Castle of the Dead has been activated."

Cyrus: "Or I can destroy that defense system. Take me to it."
Objectives Explore Salamander's Furnace with Hound Cyrus. (This quest cannot be completed if you let Hound Cyrus die.)
Dungeon Dialogue Upon entering the Dungeon:

Cyrus: "This place is more dangerous than I thought. I can't bring Her Highness to a place like this. Enemies that don't shed blood for my beast are no fun to kill, but there's nothing I can do about it."

If Player is F. Slayer:

<Player>: "Hound you know who I am. Why don't you say anything? What are you up to?"

Cyrus: "I'm here to protect Her Highness. I don't have time to worry about some lowly fugitive. If you want

to die by my hand, though, I can grant your wish. Have you gotten better at using a sword?"

Upon encountering Iron Aim:

<Player>: "A steel dragon...?!"

Iron Aim: "Intruders confirmed. Mode changing from Detection to Genocide..."

Upon defeating Iron Aim:

<Player>: "Finally, it stopped. It's too durable to be destroyed."

Cyrus: "We were only able to cause a minor error to its CPU. Let's retreat for now."
Upon Completion Hartz: "You look helpless, Hound. Your proud beast has nothing on that dragon."

Cyrus: "Shut up, Krueger. Stop talking inappropriately in front of Her Highness, or I'll cut you in half before you have a chance to lift your worthless spear."

Hartz: "Ooh, I'm scared. Sure, try it."

Unbeatable Dragon

Level 85

Briefing Nevillo Jurgen: "Sigh, adventurer, my apologies. They're under a lot of stress. It's not easy to be in such a strange place and take care of such an important figure at the same time."

<Player>: "You don't have to apologize. By the way, you don't have to be so polite to me."

Nevillo Jurgen: "Hah hah, but I'd like to. You're the hero who saved Ghent and the rest of Empyrean, my homeland. You deserve my respect."

<Player>: "But you were opposed to fighting Anton. Why did you organize the joint investigation group and even come here yourself? And where's Vaughn?"

Nevillo Jurgen: "Knight Master Vaughn is in the Underworld on some business. And I didn't oppose fighting Anton. I'm opposed to unnecessary sacrifices. As for the reason why I cam here...I'll tell you later. We have a more urgent matter at hand: the steel dragon. You said it's unbeatable."

<Player>: "Yes. It's too ferocious and its body is impenetrable. Worse still, it never gets tired."

Nevillo Jurgen: "Hm. Maybe it's made of some special mineral... I'd love to help, but I'm not versed in this kind of field. Why don't you talk to Ms. Pioneer? She's an admirable member of the Seven Shards. I'm sure she can give you a satisfying answer."

Investigating the Steel Dragon

Level 85
Quest Giver Meryl
Dungeon Salamander's Furnace
Briefing Meryl: "Ordinary steel isn't so strong. The dragon has to be made of some special material. Go bring me anything you can get from the dragon: scale, tongue, anything. I'll analyze it, and then we'll think of a countermeasure. You don't have time to for this? Do you have any other ideas? Then shut up and do as I say!"
Objectives Collect Iron Aim's Scale Fragments from Salamander's Furnace.
Upon Completion Meryl: "You're in a rush, huh? All right, bring them to me. By the way, his package should have arrived by now..."

Woon: "Excuse me, Doctor Pioneer. I've brought a package from Commander Eagle Eye."

Identity of the Dragon

Level 85
Quest Giver Meryl
Dungeon Salamander's Furnace
Briefing <Player>: "Lyonir brought the package. That means whatever is in it is really important."

Meryl: "I don't think it is, but you never know what kinds of people are out there, with the war just ended. I feel sorry that the kid had to run an errand that was not worth his time because there was a slight possibility of theft. Tsk, tsk."

<Player>: "Oh, this is terranite. The Empyrean headquarters has found terranite."

Meryl: "What, do you know what this is? Good, then we can cut to the chase. Terranite is a mineral transferred from Pandemonium. I'm hoping to find a connection between it and the dragon created by an Apostle of Pandemonium. Ha! Look at these red stripes. This is the identity of the dragon. The dragon's body is made of terranite. That's why no blow to the body can achieve internal damage. The scales you brought are just a cover, so they're made of a different metal from Pandemonium. But this reaction is a result of the effects of terranite that have spread all over the body. Simple attacks won't work on the dragon. You first need to find and cut off the energy that fuels the dragon. The energy reservoir must be somewhere inside its lair. Go find it."
Objectives Collect the following materials from Salamander's Furnace.

Destroy Iron Aim

That won't be a problem for an adventurer like you, will it? Now go destroy that dragon before the defense system, or whatever it is called, comes flying to us."
Objectives Eliminate Iron Aim in Salamander's Furnace and collect Ominous Energy Ball.
Dungeon Dialogue Upon encountering Iron Aim:

System: "Increasing the defense system to Level 4. Mode changing from Interception to Pursuit. Expanding the range to the outside..."

<Player>: "Oh no, we must stop it before it gets out!"

Upon defeating Iron Aim:

<Player>: "That was a hell of a robot. ...What's this? It's pulsating with ominous energy."
Upon Completion Meryl: "What's that unpleasant-looking thing? You've found that inside the dragon? This proves what Luke is capable of. He isn't using light just to hide his castle from Pandemonium. He's using it also to penetrate the dimensional barrier between Empyrean and Pandemonium and mobilize countless creatures under his command!"
<Player>: "Using light to mobilize creatures? The speculums that gather light...the space full of light energy...the Castle of the Dead permeating the same energy as the Black Nightmare... What idd the Foundation of the Nightmare say? 'Convert darkness into light and bring the gathered light [to] him.' He must have meant Apostle Luke. Isabella: "Havne't you always had a reason, Sir Jurgen? It's my knowledge that a long time ago, Bakal traveled through the Castle of the Dead and invaded Empyrean. Bakal and Luke have been colluding, which means you've had a reason to attack Apostle Luke for a thousand years."

Nevillo Jurgen: "That's right, but time makes people forget. Some people think we're inviting trouble by investigating the Castle of the Dead. It's a shame that not many people are as wise as you are, Your Highness."

Isabella: "Don't blame your people too much. They haven't gotten over the war. It's only natural that they're apprehensive about taking risks. That's why the Empire has come to your rescue. Azalea: "Wait, Adventurer. Eliminating Luke will bring about a great disaster to this world. I agree with you that the Black Nightmare must be stopped, but Luke is to be protected, not eliminated."

Dana Donatel: "What do you mean? Luke has done more harm than good to this world. He doesn't deserve protection."

Azalea: "You may not know this, but there's someone else who wants all the Apostles dead, and seh's planned their destruction for a long time. The deaths of the former Apostles and all events that have led us to this Castle of the Dead are part of her scheme. So is killing Luke. It'll only get us closer to an impending disaster."

Dana Donatel: "Things can't get worse than they have been. Countless people died from Delezie's epidemic, Lotus's mind attacks, and Anton's fiery breath. You ask their families if they think an Apostle is worth saving."

Azalea: "I don't expect you to understand. We Grim Seekers are not doing what we do because we want others to understand us. But Adventurer, you've discovered that Iris was manipulated by Apostle Hilder. At least you should know that I'm telling the truth. It's time we stop dancing to Hilder's tune. Forget about Luke and go to Pandemonium now. Hilder is the one you need to stop."

You chose to work with Empyrean to eliminate the giant Anton. The time has come for you to make another important decision. I would've swatted off those blokes like flies, but I'm not you. Make your choice."

<Player>: "What do you mean I can't be on my own anymore?"

Hartz: "You've seen all the faces in this place. Your adventure is no longer just your own. It's theirs too. Everyone around you has a reason to help or interfere with you. Of course, all of them are acting like friends, but that won't last long. You've met Vaughn Walshuted. The only one you can trust is yourself. I don't want you to listen to their nonsense, and it'd be better if you'd join us in the Joint Investigation Group. You will receive official support from both Empyrean and the Empire. When this is over, you'll be treated properly as the hero of Empyrean as you are. You will be able to live the rest of your life comfortably without working, and your glory will continue for many generations to come."

Isabella: "The Empire promises that you'll want for nothing. Position, honor, money--which do you want most? Or the Empire can give it all to you. I already think highly of you, so there is no need for you to think. Just join us, and I'm ready to spend my money on whatever you need. Adventurer's Guild's Offer

Level 85
Quest Giver Dana Donatel
Briefing Dana Donatel: "What made you want to become an adventurer? Whatever it was, the fact that you're still adventuring proves you're a born adventurer. Every member of my guild became an adventurer for a different reason, but all of us love meeting new people in strange places and pushing ourselves to our limits. The world praises us heroes in times like this, when it's in desperate need of help, and in other times it treats us like gravediggers obsessed with finding more lucrative dungeons. But we're only being ourselves, pursuing our passion and curiosity for the unknown. Having witnessed various accounts of mistreatment of adventurers, Karakas thought that, even if we adventurers were not recognized for their contributions to the peace of Arad, at least we shouldn't be disposed [of] like garbage afterward. That's why he founded this guild, to protect other adventurers whom he considered his sworn brothers and sisters. The Adventurer's Guild spares no effort to support its members. If they need money or jobs, it finds creditable sources for them. If they're wounded, it provides treatments. One of the quirks of being a member of the guild is that you can pick your comrades among the guild members. The guild vouches for all its members. They're more reliable than some random strangers you meet on the road. The Adventurer's Guild is growing rapidly, so much so that it now has a branch Empyrean. Join my guild, and I guarantee you can enjoy being the carefree adventurer as you are, without getting tangled up in political struggles."

Level 85
Quest Giver Azalea Lott
Briefing Azalea: "You must have been shocked when I asked you not to defeat the Apostle. As everyone knows, the existence of Apostles are harmful to this world, but only because someone else has made it harmful. The Apostles kept to themselves in Pandemonium. Why do you think the Apostles started coming to Arad and Empyrean all of a sudden? Because someone has planted ideas in them. Stop that person, and the Apostles will be no longer a threat to our world. The instigator is Hilder. She needs all the other Apostles dead to realize some prophecy, which will bring the end of Arad. We know Hilder's goal and that the prophecy holds true, but we won't let her destroy our world. That's why we've built the Tower of Despair and have been inviting strong warriors for the battle of the Armageddon. Roy looks like a young man, but he's actually over eighty years old. He just hasn't aged like others because time moves slowly in the Tower of Despair. Time is our asset and a powerful weapon against Apostle Hilder's destructive plan. Gold Clown

Level 85
Quest Giver Seria
Dungeon Banquet Hall of Light
Briefing Seria Kirmin: "Congratulations, you've acquired a comrade for your journey. But you didn't forget about the place filled with light, did you? It's where Apostle Luke has stored energy needed for himself. Azalea thinks the Apostle must be protected, but he's a greater threat than the Black Nightmare for the existence of this world. What do you want to do about him?"

<Player>: "I can't believe everything you say. I want to see for myself before I make a decision. And for now I think I should destroy his light storage and put a halt to his threat. I'll be back."

Seria Kirmin: "Okay. I'll wait for you here. Come back safely."
Objectives Eliminate the guard of the Banquet Hall of Light.
Dungeon Dialogue Upon entering the Dungeon:

<Player>: "I'd better access the structure of this place and cut off the supply of light energy to Luke... Oh?"

Vaughn: "Oh, hey! How have you been? Long time, no see!"

<Player>: "What are you doing in here?"

Vaughn: "You know me. I like strange places like this. I also wanted to check the energy that Luke has stored."

<Player>: "Vaughn, I have something to tell you..."

Vaughn: "We can talk while we fight, yeah? Let's go!"

Upon entering Room A1:

<Player>: "Wait! Vaughn, you said you had nothing to do with Area 50. Why did you lie?"

Vaughn: "Hm? Did I?"

<Player>: "Are you kidding me? You said the prime movers of Area 50 were executed, and you got mad when I asked if you had anything to do with the experiment."

Vaughn: "Did I? Mm, but I can't remember... Have I lied to you, really?"

Upon entering Room B2:

<Player>: "Stop playing stupid!"

Vaughn: "You need to stop being so loud. You're going to attract all the enemies in this place and get yourself killed."

<Player>: "What? Do you want me dead, so I can't tell anyone about your lie?"

Vaughn: "What are you talking about? You know I like you too much to wish bad things on you. I was just worried. Look at that. More enemies are coming at us because of you. Goddamn it!"

Upon entering Room D2:

Vaughn: "Hm, it seems the monsters in this place are fueled by light energy. Some of them look as if they were made from outside the Castle of the Dead. More specifically, from a different dimension."

<Player>: "...You seem to know a lot about them."

Vaughn: "So do you. Since you've seen the outside of this dimension while you were in the Northern Shelter, you must be familiar with the energy in this place. Why are you surprised? Didn't you know there were eyes on you? You've even traveled through time with Siran. Something like this shouldn't be surprising to you. Because it isn't to me, and I have nothing on you when it comes to adventures. *Chuckle*"

Upon defeating all enemies in Room D2:

<Player>: "Vaughn, I trusted you. You can be frivolous sometimes, but you're one of the four Blade Masters who saved the world. I thought you were the good guy."

Vaughn: "You're persistent, aren't you? I understand you've finally had a chance to tell me things that you couldn't say in public, but you're wearing me out."

Upon defeating all enemies in Room E2:

Vaughn: "Sigh, all right, I'm sorry. As you know, I'm not the most patient guy in the world. And I've been under a lot of stress these days. But I want to stay friends with you. I think you're funny. We can work out that little misunderstanding and remain on good terms, yeah?"

Upon encountering Gold Clown:

Gold Clown: "Pam, pam, pam! Pam, pam, pam! Welcome, Adventurer! Did you come to watch my magic show?"

Vaughn: "What's that, a clown?"

Gold Clown: "My name is Gold Clown and my creator is Luke. How do you like the way I look? Do you like it? Then remember it, and say goodbye to the rest of the world!"

Upon defeating Gold Clown:

Vaughn: "Hmph, I don't think this guy can be killed."

Gold Clown: "Oh? Is this the best you can do? I've served Luke since we were in Hebulon. Even the greatest adventurer in the world can't beat me!"

Vaughn: We'd better retreat. I don't like the power he has within his body."
Upon Completion Vaughn Walshuted: "We've only made fools out of ourselves. He's capable of opening interdimensional rifts. It's [a] wonder why Luke is keeping him here. What? Why are you keeping quiet? Are you so upset with me that you don't want to share your opinions with me?"

<Player>: "...Let's go back to the others for now. You're wounded, Vaughn."

Vaughn Walshuted: "The others can't know I returned. I'm here on purely personal business."

<Player>: "What personal business? First it was Anton you wanted to investigate, and now Luke. What are you up to?"

Vaughn Walshuted: "I'm a knight of the Empire. Can't you see that I want to get rid of the Apostles for the peace and development of my empire? Fighting Sirocco made me curious about the Metastasis and the other powers of the Apostles. Plus, Iris told me to be prepared for fighting the Apostles, so that's what I'm doing: getting ready, in case another Apostle invades Arad."

<Player>: "I don't believe you. Why are you doing this alone, instead of doing it with your princess and other members of the Joint Investigation Group?"

Briefing Hartz: "You're supposed to be in the Empire. When did you come back without telling me or Her Highness? And why are you coming out of the Castle of the Dead? I want to know what you're hiding from me and Her Highness."

Vaughn Walshuted: "Oops! Deputy Master, you got me. I wondered why you didn't show up when there was a commotion. You waited to catch me red-handed. You're scary, man. Bah, all right. I didn't tell you or her because I didn't want to alert the Grim Seekers, especially that woman Azalea. I couldn't fool them without fooling you guys, so I left, leaving Her Highness in the Hound's care. Geez, those Grim Seekers followed me to the Empire. I can't believe I actually escaped their detection. They probably think I'm still on a vacation with Emily. Ah, Emily! I'm so sorry that I had to leave you. *Sob*"

Vaughn Walshuted: "Why? The Grim Seekers are not my friends, but you are."

Hartz: "Why do you want to avoid the Grim Seekers?"

Vaughn Walshuted: "They want to protect the Apostles. I don't. But since they're under His Majesty's protection, even Her Highness cannot ignore their wish."

<Player>: "The Grim Seekers are under your emperor's protection?"

Vaughn Walshuted: "Oops. Argh, why do I keep making mistakes?! It's confidential. Don't tell anyone else, all right?"

Hartz: "So you've returned to kill Luke. Let me ask you one more question. Did the Emperor order you to kill the Apostle without telling the Grim Seekers?"
Objectives Go to Hartz.
  • Meet Hartz: 0/1
Upon Completion Hartz: "First, I want to know what you want. Do you want to kill Apostle Luke?"

Collapsing Banquet Hall of Light

Level 85
Quest Giver Hartz
Dungeon Banquet Hall of Light
Briefing Hartz: "That must be what keeps the small chunk of metal moving so quickly with all that force. I don't know about the chassis, but the motive power itself doesn't seem like Luke's work. It feels different from the Black Nightmare. With its power stolen, the clown is now as good as dead. Go destroy it."
Objectives Seize the last light of Gold Clown in Banquet Hall of Light. (You cannot abandon this quest while inside the dungeon.)
Dungeon Dialogue Upon entering the Dungeon:

Vaughn: "You must have found the clown's weakness. The power that protects the light in this place is growing weak."

<Player>: "Have you been investigating this place all this time?"

Vaughn: "Yes. Getting past this castle is important, but so is understanding the owner's intent. Now let's go to Luke's storage of light that he's gathered from Arad and Empyrean!"

Upon encountering Gold Clown:

Gold Clown: "Hrr... Hrr... Luke made this body for me... I'm losing strength... But I won't stop fighting for my king!"

Upon defeating Gold Clown:

Gold Clown: "King of Hebulon, please recover your light!"
Upon Completion Vaughn Walshuted: "Is this silvery light the last of the clown's vital force? It's still pulsating as if it's still attached to its owner."

<Player>: "I think it was one of Luke's henchmen. Do you think he will show up himself now?"

Vaughn Walshuted: "He will soon. Look, the ominous energy surrounding the castle has thickened."

<Player>: "Oh, no. Maybe I took too long to destroy the clown. Ah, the ground is shaking!"

Vaughn Walshuted: "I better hurry. Explain the situation to everyone else. Bye don't tell them about me!"

<Player>: "Ah, Vaughn! He ran..."
