Categorizing

Since you have been doing categorizing, I allowed the gadget Hotcat and cat-a-lot to be used by all users. To enable, go to your preferences and find the gadgets tab on the far right. Hotcat is pretty simple to use; just look at the bottom of most pages and you should be able to add categories quickly. --Dfoplayer (talk) 19:51, 22 February 2015 (PST)

EDIT: Cat-a-lot is designed for categorizing during a search. --Dfoplayer (talk) 19:55, 22 February 2015 (PST)
Sounds awesome. Was starting to get tedious. I'll check them out. --Space Fish (talk)
Looks like cat-a-lot only likes loading half of the options. Is this a problem on my end? Tried on three different browsers. Can only seem to remove things from categories because it won't display the Copy/Move buttons. Preferences don't open either. --Space Fish (talk) 21:29, 22 February 2015 (PST)
I first noticed the preferences problem. I didn't know it wouldn't select nor show half of the options. I'll look into this.--Dfoplayer (talk) 21:39, 22 February 2015 (PST)

Preferences is still down. But regular pages, not just images, should be working. Have fun. --Dfoplayer (talk) 22:38, 22 February 2015 (PST)

Just tried it out. Working perfectly. Thanks. --Space Fish (talk) 22:42, 22 February 2015 (PST)

Alright. I found the closest and quickest way to categorize files. I don't know JavaScript, which cat-a-lot is using, but i found something that should work. Using AutoWikiBrowser, I plan to upload a text file with all of our uncat files, templates, pages. etc. AutoWikiBrowser allows me to add any category to those files/pages. It isn't too hard to figure out, so I'm sure any of us can use the bot.

For now, our first step is I'm gonna export the list of uncat and paste them into a public google doc. We need to sort out which files/pages go into which category. --Dfoplayer (talk) 21:44, 25 February 2015 (PST)
Alright then. Though, at this point, I think it's mostly just weapons and armor that's left. But, I also haven't had a chance to look at uncategorized pages yet. They could need it for all I know. --Space Fish Spaceface.png 21:52, 25 February 2015 (PST)
Anyone with this link can edit Files,Pages templates. To view all the Files, Here 730 of them. All pages 238 of them. And templates is only 76, but easy access here.
Do we have a category for user-only images, such as Sica's? --Dfoplayer (talk) 22:01, 25 February 2015 (PST)
I don't think so. I was gonna make one, but I thought it'd be too OCD. Would clean up the images a bit though. Besides those and the gears, it seems like there's just avatars and avatar sets and a bunch of character images I'm not sure what to do with. --Space Fish Spaceface.png 22:09, 25 February 2015 (PST)
Hah, OCD. True. Do Korean or Chinese still have avatar sets? We can keep them I suppose. Or mark with delete. --Dfoplayer (talk) 22:13, 25 February 2015 (PST)
They do, but a lot of the images with more than one character in them were specific Nexon releases. I think anything single should stay, like rares, but the "series" files should go. --Space Fish Spaceface.png 22:16, 25 February 2015 (PST)

Haha! We can now check all the duplicate files on this wiki. Visit the page User:Dfoplayer/DuplicateFiles and it will auto generate the files.--Dfoplayer (talk) 18:22, 26 February 2015 (PST)

That's awesome. A shame it doesn't seem to be able to pick up different filetypes though. But I guess that's be expected since they're not exact duplicates in that aspect. This thing found a few I missed though. --Space Fish Spaceface.png 18:28, 26 February 2015 (PST)
Yea, I'll keep googling for XXX.jpg and XXX.png search. Even so, BloodEvil.png and BloodEvilPortrait.png are the same, but my "imaginary" filename search would not pick that up. Maybe I can find a "filename similar" script or something. --Dfoplayer (talk) 18:34, 26 February 2015 (PST)
Honestly, I think when it comes to all those different file extensions, it'd be easier to just keep an eye out. I don't think any script or bot can hunt them all down. That said, once we sort out the Google Doc, I think I'm taking a long break from images and categories. They're cleaner than they were when I arrived, I don't think we'll get them perfect. --Space Fish Spaceface.png 18:39, 26 February 2015 (PST)

Nominate deletion

I added AJax quick delete. You can enable it on preferences. It will appear on sidebar, under tools. However, I am fully aware that it gives an error. I'll see if I can fix that. haha.--Dfoplayer (talk) 22:31, 24 February 2015 (PST)

Alright. Thanks for all this. No rush. --Space Fish Spaceface.png 02:02, 25 February 2015 (PST)
It works. Once you submit, there is an error. We do not have "Commons:Deletion requests" page. If you run into anything that needs to be deleted, go ahead and use this. --Dfoplayer (talk) 07:00, 25 February 2015 (PST)
When I tagged a category with it, this happened: User_talk:JasonJD
Had to do it manually. Not sure what I should do with that. --Space Fish Spaceface.png 15:45, 25 February 2015 (PST)
When you nominate for discussion, it will add a section to whoever is watching that page. Apparently Armor family‎ was being watched by Ladywinter while you were watching Male Mage. As for the "{{subst:cfd}}" I have no idea why that shows up. --Dfoplayer (talk) 16:55, 25 February 2015 (PST)‎

Finding and Uploading Images

Hey Space Fish. Sorry for making you do extra work about uploading and categorizing new pictures. I intended to add those pictures as temp files since they either didn't exist or I couldn't find them on the wiki. To prevent further image replacement, I have a request. I always wondered, could you tell me where and how are the Wiki-ers, such as yourself, getting the splash art pictures from? Also another question, should I look through the old/new DFO files for the image sprites to replace the old "jpeg/gif" files to "png" files. I've noticed that some of the names for the old files were rather confusing and inconsistent. --Altair (talk) 00:48, 14 April 2015 (PDT)

Sorry. I did notice the thing about being temp, but I usually just update what I see and whatever's convenient for me at that moment. I probably should've respected your space though, lol. Won't happen again.
As for the old images, that's probably the best choice. I moved around some cube frag files because new ones were uploaded. In the uploaders' defense, the old names are kinda weird and even already knowing them, I was having trouble adding them to a Quest page. Before the game came out, I spent like a week sorting all the unsorted images so people could find them easier, but that does little if the filenames are still bad. If you want to do a mass overhaul of filenames/extensions/whatever else, I'll gladly join in.
Also when you say "splash art" do you mean the portraits? --Space Fish Spaceface.png 02:32, 14 April 2015 (PDT)
It's cool, I intended those pictures to be replaced sooner or later by me or some other wiki-er. I technically PrtSc all my pictures I upload and edit them on paint due to lack of Photoshop... If you find a better image somewhere, feel free to replace the pictures.
As for uploading new images, I was going to start doing this after I was done with the most of the Quest pages. However, this may take some time since I'm updating the general, feat, epic, and limited quests. I can only update as fast as I level my characters, so I won't be finished anytime soon... My main problem is that I have no idea if the Knight or the Female Slayer have any special quests. I won't be able to record the data because I don't intend on making those characters. My original intention was to upload and update item images for the equipment pages. I was going to use that data to insert recommended items in Skill pages (i.e. items that boost skill levels). I already proposed this plan to Dfoplayer about a month ago; you can read about it here. However, the Knight update caught me off-guard. Now we have to create a new equipment page for Shields and upload new pot icons for knight equips as well as the missing thief ones. I'll notify you as soon as I am close to being finished. Until then, I will be periodically adding more use item images, probably relating to the Danjin, Kadin, etc.
Also, the answer is yes; I meant portraits. I should have chosen better wording. Sorry for the confusion. My reason for asking was if there were existing portraits for certain characters in special quest cutscenes. When I saw that you uploaded portraits for Dimples and Whistle-blower Terretti, I was just curious because there were no quests that involved talking to them. I wanted to know if there were any for characters such as Rabble Rouser Rake, Laini/Laiy and Old Man Haas because there were existing portraits for minor characters such as Zejo, Neil the Sniper, Gargan Peyo, and Sniper Irigare. I should have clarified this earlier.
I can confirm that there's a lot of differences in Knight's quests. Sadly, I already started playing this morning without really thinking it through. There's a bunch of instances where the dungeon layout and mobs are different, sometimes with there being no boss. Probably gonna be a huge headache, but I wouldn't worry about it now.
Interestingly, I can't see to find a portrait for Haas. I could've sworn one existed and I even have nice quality artwork of him, but I looked through that section of the files multiple times and couldn't find one. I know for sure Laini and Rake don't have any. As for Teretti and Dimples, I know they used to speak at some points in the Arden quest. I'm not sure if something has changed in DFOg from DFO or not though.

I see you didn't get in touch with dfoplayer about the tool used to extract the image files. Did you still want it? If not, I did have a ton of the item icons extracted already for you and anyone else that might want them. I just wanna give them a second pass to see if I missed anything Knight-related. I can also toss in the APC and monster portraits from the sprite_interface.NPK in case you wanna take a look at what's in there. --Space Fish Spaceface.png 22:40, 14 April 2015 (PDT)
Sorry for the late response. I correspond to the HAST zone, so I'm usually busy around this time until now. The problem is that I am not too technologically inclined. I'm not too sure how to convert a file from .NPK to .PNG. I do not want to screw up in doing something on the wiki which will create more work for others... Also I do not want others to sacrifice their valuable time in teaching me how to use the tool. I think I'm okay atm. Thanks for the offer, though. --Altair (talk) 02:43, 15 April 2015 (PDT)
For skill pages (since I'm trying to move them to a templated solution), I would like to include that info automagically through Dynamic Page Lists once that plugin is installed. However, this would also mean that we would have to move to items as pages rather than as a large blob on a single page, as I am loathe to have to update that sort of information in more than 1 place. We can also include that weapon's larger sprite as well which is nice.
Teretti does speak in the Arden Quests, I'm pretty sure I've seen them all when I was getting my character through there.

Hey Space Fish. I recently picked up the hobby of collecting monster cards in the game to help my brother level his enchanter profession. Is it okay if I upload some monster card portraits for certain monsters in the game as temporary filler files? Also, may I also upload some monster portraits from quest dialogue as temporary files as well? If you can find better quality pictures or edit them to look presentable, feel free to replace them. --Altair (talk) 15:59, 25 April 2015 (PDT)
Go ahead. You don't need to ask me.
Though, if you want the card stats and description/quotes on them, I wouldn't even be able to replace any uploaded cards without screenshots anyway. The overlays are all text so I can't extract those parts. --Space Fish Spaceface.png 00:44, 26 April 2015 (PDT)
I don't think it's necessary to have the description/stats on the cards unless we use them for the Monster Card page. I was planning to crop a picture of the portrait from the card. I can press F4 to hide the descriptions and stats. I'll upload a temporary file. Here's the link to the picture Sample. Sorry, I know it looks kinda bad... --Altair (talk) 01:05, 26 April 2015 (PDT)
Oh, I see what you mean now. That looks a lot better than just the entire card image file, border and all. --Space Fish Spaceface.png 01:46, 26 April 2015 (PDT)
